WHERE: New York, United States
WHEN: 12th October 2024
Every year, every second week in October, in America, Christopher Columbus is celebrated. The Columbus Day It is precisely the American national holiday with which the famous Italian explorer is honored.
The ceremony dates back to the distant 1866. It was the Italian community present in the city to organize a party in memory of Columbus. From this date, every year takes place in Manhattan, becoming an event of extraordinary appeal; so much to become in the 1934, national holiday.
In the 1892 a statue of Christopher Columbus was erected on Columbus Avenue.
If you were in the Big Apple at this time, do not miss this incredible ceremony and in particular the Columbus Day Parade, a real highlight. This is the traditional parade in which thousands of people take part. Groups, bands, allegorical floats, military bodies, parade along the streets of NY. A veritable interminable river of individuals.

The event is also very popular on TV. Over a million people are involved between visitors and spectators. Instead, over 35,000 individuals (troupe, marines, marines and many others), personally involved during the beautiful and colorful parade.
As spectators, therefore, prepare your cameras and above all know that you will hardly be comfortable. Fifth Avenue will be extremely chaotic on this day. Prepare yourself, therefore, to stand for at least 3 hours. We recommend arriving early; otherwise, you will hardly be able to find a good position behind the barriers.
The parade runs along 5th Avenue and 44th Street, and goes up Manhattan to the height of 72th Street. The event lasts just under 4 hours; it generally starts around 11:30 am and ends at 3:00 pm.
