The frame is really fantastic and suggestive. Provins, in fact, is a marvelous medieval town, south-east of Paris, a World Heritage Site. UNESCO has underlined the importance of the city from the point of historical and artistic point of view.
The city is famous for its medieval fortifications, 1200 meters long with 22 towers, built between 1226 and 1314. E there are many monuments and sites of interest.
Imagine such a frame, beautifully lit up for the party. And, then, decorations, trees, a living nativity scene, fantastic trains, frozen tracks … Here are the reasons why the medieval Christmas in Provins is a truly unique event, not to be missed. The splendid village opens its doors for just one weekend in December: get ready for two fantastic days of magic.
Organized by the association Gardes-Foires de Champagne , it is the traditional market that takes place in upper part, at Place du Château and place St-Quiriace . About 40 artisans will make you travel through time. Sale of medieval objects. Traditional dances of the Middle Ages. And, again, jugglers, storytellers, fire-breathers and much more. For the whole family.

In the splendid Collégiale St Quiriace, this beautiful living nativity scene will make you relive the story of the nativity. It tells the story of the way of St. Francis of Assisi who accompanied his father to the famous Foires de Provins and who was the first to represent the nativity in 1223. The second part, on the other hand, recalls the foundations of the Christian era. Over 50 actors, figures, the ox, the donkey, the Three Kings… and the traditional Christmas carols.

Appointment Saturday 09th and Sunday 10th December 2023. Only one return trip per day is foreseen. For those wishing to participate, as the number is limited, a reservation is required, on the official site.
Departure around 13:00 from Gare SNCF de Longueville (Seine & Marne). The return is scheduled for around 4:30 pm. The standard fare is €30 for a round trip (€15 one way).
These are the traditional markets of the lower part of Provins. You will find a wide offer that ranges from objects to gastronomic products. Over thirty stands including bijoux, decorations, and culinary specialties such as crêpes, gaufres belges, mulled wine and more.
The markets take place at Place du Marechal Leclerc, and in the streets of the center, Saturday from 08:00 to 22:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00. You will also find shows and lots of entertainment, together with the traditional Gourmand markets.
The rich calendar of Proving Medieval Christmas does not end here. Among the many events and shows on the bill, there is the Giant Advent Calendar in Parvis du Center Culturel et sportif Saint Ayoul. Present, obviously, Santa Claus, to whom the children can leave the inevitable letter. Plenty of musical animation. The show takes place from 01 to 16 December 2023.. Free admission.
A Rue du Palais, at 16:00, appointment with artists and dancers who will entertain the public with Medieval Dances . There will also be street performers and fire-eaters, until 9pm.
The FORÊT MAGIQUE AU CENTER AQUATIQUE is another unmissable event of the Provins Medieval Christmas. You will find Santa Claus in an enchanted underwater forest, set up outside the swimming pool. Meet at the Center Aquatique de Provins , at 51, Route de Nanteuil.
TIMETABLE AND PRICES. Saturday from 18:00 to 20:00. Tickets cost €4.75 for adults and €3.40 for children aged 3 to 14.
Of course, every Christmas place, to be such, has to have a great place to skate. For your Medieval Christmas, you can have fun at the Saint Ayoul Cultural and Sports Center, where, for three weeks, you can skate on a natural ice rink of 420 meters squares. The track is open for a whole month, from 01 December 2023 to 01 January 2024, from 10:00 to 19:00. On Saturday, the closing is postponed to 21:00. The price, including skate rental, is €6 for adults, and €5 for children up to 12 years.
