Lufthansa, a German flag carrier, is a real reference point for all European travelers; It offers timely connections all over the world, and a state-of-the-art fleet. Its headquarters is in Frankfurt.

Here is some valuable information that you need to know to fly with Lufthansa.

HAND LUGGAGE

Each person, with a ticket in ECONOMY and ECONOMY PREMIUM CLASS, can carry only one hand baggage with a maximum size of 50x40x23 cm, including handles and wheels. The maximum weight allowed is 8kg.

The free transport of a small bag or computer bag, up to 40 x 30 x 10 cm, is also allowed.
Please do not exceed the maximum weight allowed. In this case, traveling with Lufthansa could be a real drain. The company applies extremely high flat rates, in case of excess.
As always, please do not place dangerous items (scissors, sharp objects, etc.) in your hand baggage.

HOLD BAGGAGE

By purchasing the Economy Light and CLASSIC fares, you can carry, in addition to hand baggage, a hold baggage with a maximum weight of 23kg. The maximum dimensions allowed are 158 cm (length + height + depth).

The hold baggage is included FREE with the ECONOMY CLASSIC rate. However, if you have chosen to fly with Lufthansa in Economy LIGHT, you will have to pay a supplement for your checked baggage. By purchasing online, you will pay 25.00€ each way. At the airport, on the other hand, at the Lufthansa counters, the fare will be 40€.

As for the hand baggage, also in this case it is advised not to exceed the maximum weight allowed, in order to avoid the very high flat rates before take-off.

EQUIPMENT AND SPORTS BAGGAGE TO FLY WITH LUFTHANSA

You can bring sports equipment and luggage such as bicycles, golf equipment, windsurfing, skysurfing and much more to the aircraft. If the baggage does not exceed 32 kg, it is included as standard baggage; you will pay 80€ each way, to travel in Europe, up to a maximum of 250 on long-haul intercontinental flights.

For bulky luggage, which exceeds the 32 kg or the maximum length allowed, you pay the relative fare of 130€ on flights in Europe, up to a maximum of 400€ on long-haul intercontinental flights.

It is also possible to embed large packages as musical instruments, with a maximum size of 200 cm x 75 cm x 65 cm. In this case, the flat rate will be 200€ for flying in Europe, and 300€ for intercontinental flights.

ANIMALS ON BOARD

Traveling with Lufthansa means not having to give up the presence of your faithful friends. In fact, on the company’s airplanes, it is allowed to transport a dog, cat, hare or rabbit.

A maximum of two animals per passenger are allowed. In the case of transport in the cabin, the two animals must be placed in a single carrier with a maximum total weight of 8 kg and maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm.
Large animals must be transported in the hold in a special carrier, suitable for the weight of the animal.
It should also be remembered that the carrier must be up-to-date, well-ventilated, and with absorbent material inside.

In the cabin, the animals travel as extra hand baggage. You have to pay a cost that varies according to the route. For flights in Europe, the price is 60€ each way.

LAG

Before accessing the security checks, we recommend storing the Liquids, Aerosols, Gel (LAG) in containers with a capacity not exceeding 100 ml or equivalent. These containers must be inserted in transparent and resealable plastic bags, with a capacity not exceeding one liter. The bag must be completely closed and the dimensions must not exceed 20 × 20 cm.
