An extraordinary celebration of art, music and gastronomy. This, and more, represents the River Festival, the UK’s most important annual maritime event.
Obviously, the Waterfront, the splendid promenade that runs alongside the Mersey, is the theater of the event. An area that perfectly embodies the rebirth of Liverpool and its port, an iconic place on the commercial and historical routes of the United Kingdom.
For a whole weekend, Pier Head, Royal Albert Dock, Salthouse Dock, The Strand and Mann Island will offer visitors many shows, street theater, live music.
There will, of course, be stands with Street food and wine.
The River Festival was born as a gathering event. A festival dedicated, above all, to families and children with many activities dedicated to them. And most importantly, a completely free program.
As per tradition, the festival will take place in conjunction with the National Day of the Armed Forces, this year on Friday 08 May 2020. And it represents an excellent opportunity to discover a truly fascinating city, including museums, galleries and lots of shopping.
Liverpool can be easily reached, by direct air flight, from numerous European destinations. Furthermore, about 70 km away is Manchester airport, one of the most important airports in the United Kingdom, for passenger traffic.
The Waterfront, home of the River Festival, is easily accessible by public transport. A short distance away is James Street, Merseyrail railway station. In addition, numerous Stagecoach and Arrivabus bus lines pass through, including 10A, 10B, 14, 18, 19 and 79C / D.
In about 20 minutes on foot, you can also get from the central Lime Street.
The entire program can be downloaded through the official website of the event. Among the various activities, there will be performances, shows and live music on the Pier Head stage.

Being also one of the most important historical ports, you can admire some incredible ships.
And, of course, lots of gastronomy, at the numerous bars, restaurants and eateries located on the seafront.
The River Festival is an event for the whole family. An entire three-day program will be dedicated to the young guests of the festival. Activities, workshops and lots of fun.

You will not need to buy any tickets. All shows and events are completely free.
Entry is allowed to all guests, without any age limit.
