WHERE: Edinburgh, Scotland
WHEN: from 30 December 2023 to 01 January 2024
In Scotland, New Year’s Eve is one of the most heartfelt periods by the inhabitants, so much so that it pushes them to huge celebrations for over 48 hours. This is what they call in these parts, Hogmanay, or New Year’s Eve.
Whether or not they are celebrations in grand style, if your desire should be to find yourself in a welcoming and warm place, there is nothing better than Scotland. And of the capital.
Edinburgh Hogmanay is undoubtedly one of the greatest expressions of the party.
Three days of unique and fantastic atmospheres await you in the capital, including evocative processions at night, spectacular parades and… diving into the frozen waters.
If, on the other hand, you love Scottish folklore and tradition, you cannot fail to celebrate with the traditional Ceilidh at one of the many clubs.
Edinburgh is a decidedly beautiful and surprising city, ready to welcome you to celebrate the arrival of 2024 in an absolutely legendary way.

The program, as usual, takes place over 48 hours. Three definitely magical days that will make your stay in the capital truly unique.
The event that officially marks the start of the Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations. On Saturday 30th December you can join an extraordinary procession along the Royal Mile until you reach Holyrood Park. A real human river led by flaming torches in the twilight.
The procession proceeds accompanied by the sound of drums and bagpipes.
Upon arrival, great celebrations and a closing show.
In Edinburgh, the most incredible and wild New Year awaits you along Princess Street, starting at around 20:00. Against the backdrop of the splendid castle, a large screen, outdoor bars and concerts on the large stage set up in the area await you.
At exactly midnight, everyone looks up to admire the fireworks display.
Do not forget to sing the Auld Lang Syne yourself (learn it!): An essential requirement of every Hogmanay is that you must sing it immediately after midnight because it is a good omen.
What’s better than a nice dip in the sea to celebrate the arrival of 2024?
Monday 01 January, meet in South Queensferry for a dip in the River Forth (Loony Dook). The place is truly unique, with the iconic Forth Bridges in the background. The temperatures… a little less !!
The High Street, on the other hand, hosts the traditional parade that closes the celebrations for Edinburgh Hogmanay.
In addition to the capital, there are celebrations in style all over Scotland. In the small village of Comrie, in Pertshire, torches over 3 meters high are seen during the procession.
A two-hour drive from Edinburgh, Stonehaven hosts the Fireball Procession, considered one of the most spectacular events in Hogmanay.
The biggest concerts, shows and events around the world in 2024. The calendar of the most beautiful and renowned parties, and the most absurd and incredible ones
