Christmas, for many, is one of the most beautiful times to admire the Capital of England. London shines with a special light during Christmas. The destination most loved by travelers from all over the world, is transformed, for the occasion, into a huge playground, with decorations, sparkling trees, lights, colors and … so much shopping!

From Trafalgar Square, to Hyde Park, passing through the Natural History Museum. Every place, and street, of the city, dresses up for a party, ready to be admired. And, of course, the inevitable Christmas markets, where you can buy all sorts of objects: ceramics, candles, toys, decorations, decorations, and much more. If it gets too cold, you can warm up while sipping hot chocolate: they say it’s the most delicious in these parts.

PLACES OF CHRISTMAS IN LONDON 2023

WINTER WONDERLAND

Hyde Park, one of the most famous and beloved public gardens in the city, is transformed into a huge Christmas amusement park. Shows, entertainment and many rides await visitors in a fairytale atmosphere. Families, tourists and locals flock to the largest park in the city to admire the Winter Wonderland.

Here, there are themed rides, Ferris wheels, Christmas markets, an ice skating rink. You will find the typical kiosks where you can taste the numerous proposals and delicacies. Among the many, we recommend the roasted chestnuts and the excellent mulled wine; but also hot dogs and glühwein in the Bavarian Village.

Don’t miss a ride on the Ferris wheel of the Winter Wonderland. From the height of 60 meters, you can admire the London skyline and take some nice photos.

Winter Wonderland is open from November 17th 2023 to 01 January 2024, from 10:00 to 22:00. The entrance to the area is FREE during the less crowded days. On holidays, weekends and in the middle of December, admission costs from £5 to £7.50. The rides and events are subject to charges, unless otherwise specified.

ICE RINK CANARY WHARF

Without a doubt, one of the most popular activities for children and adults. There is no Christmas in London without having set foot on one of the splendid skating rinks. From 21 October, for 18 weeks, Canary Wharf opens its doors to visitors, offering the opportunity to skate under a sparkling skyline. It doesn’t matter if it rains, or if the London climate is not very lenient: the magnificent transparent and beautifully sheltered roof will keep you protected from any bad weather.

And between a break and another, meet at the Off Piste Bar which offers drinks, snacks and splendid views of the track.

The ticket costs £17.95 in the standard version, and £13.50 for ages 4 to 12. Children under the age of 4 enter for free. With the family ticket, at a cost of £53.95, 4 people enter.
The ticket includes the rental of skates.

OXFORD AND REGENT STREETS

London is considered the Shopping Capital. Christmas, more than any other period, is the ideal time for your shopping.

Oxford Street and Regent Street, are the main arteries and, as such, are literally decorated for Christmas Here, you will find some very famous British specialty shops such as Selfridgese and John Lewis, on Oxford Street.

You can admire the wonderful windows decorated for Christmas in London, as well as the famous lights and Christmas decorations! A riot of lights and colors. Some of the most famous department stores such as Liberty London have inside them real Christmas shops with decorations and original gift ideas.

In Regent Street, you cannot miss the visit of Hamleys, a famous and great shop of toys, among the most important in the world!

Before the end of Regent Street, Carnaby Street represents another milestone of Christmas in London. Every year, in this place, the shops and the streets are decorated in an original and fun way. A must see!

If you wish to attend a Christmas ballet at the theater, the Royal Opera House and the London Coliseum are a really good solution.

COVENT GARDEN

Covent Garden is one of the most sparkling, and fascinating, areas during Christmas in London. Every year, the large Christmas market is set up in the main square. Lots of proposals for your gifts.

In addition, you can relax by eating and drinking in one of the many pubs in the area and admire the twinkling lights of the large Christmas tree set up in the square. The Covent Garden markets are open from 08 November 2023.

SOUTHBANK

Along the Queen’s Walk, at the Southbank Center, you can stroll among the many wooden chalets. You can find great deals, as a wide range of handmade gifts and lots of original items are displayed.

Ideal to be visited dis era, perhaps after a hectic day spent between visits to London’s monuments. Here, you can relax sipping good mulled wine, and tasting homemade desserts. One of the unmissable events for your Christmas London

We remember that the Southbank Christmas Market is open from 02 November 2023 until 25 January 2024, Monday to Sunday, 11am to 11pm.

LEICESTER SQUARE

This splendid market is located along one of the most classic London promenades, between Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden.

This area is among the busiest places in the city, with cinemas and shops. You will find the magical grotto of Santa Claus in Leicester Square, in a suggestive atmosphere; in addition, you can see the traditional wooden kiosks where you can find handmade gifts, Christmas decorations, colorful sweets and much more. In the huge marquee, spectacular events await you every year.

Leicester Square is open every day, from 08 November 2023 to 07 January 2024, Monday to Friday from 12:00 at 22:00; Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 to 22:00.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE

The quintessential English symbol, it is one of the must-sees of Christmas in London. In a feast of colors and scents, you can admire the spectacular Christmas tree, a gift from Oslo in 1947. On the first Tuesday of December, the spectacular lighting.

In Trafalgar Square you will find many stalls to taste typical Christmas products and gifts.
