Oslo is a romantic walk through the streets adorned with partying; Oslo is the spicy fragrance of pan gepato, and marzipan of which the air is impregnated; Oslo has the taste of gløgg, which warms your soul from the weather in the climate.

The first weekend of Advent marks the beginning of the festivities. For the occasion, numerous events are organized. The official start of the festivities takes place with the so-called Festival of Light. Karl Johans Gate, one of the main streets is more lively, is illuminated by sparkling lights and decorations.

CHRISTMAS IN OSLO 2025

NORSK FOLKMUSEUMS

Perhaps the most interesting and followed event. The fair takes place for only two December weekends in the beautiful Norsk Folkemuseums. It is a museum linked to Norwegian traditions and folklore, within the charming Bygdøy peninsula. Here, a typical Norwegian village is rebuilt, with over 150 historical houses in full Norwegian style, for this occasion, decorated according to the ancient Norwegian Christmas traditions.

You can wander through the over 100 stalls looking for typical Scandinavian handicrafts. All this, accompanied by performances, concerts and lots of activities for the little ones.

Open on December 6, 7, 13, and 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be the traditional Christmas Market with concerts, workshops, exhibitions, stalls, local foods, and many family activities. There will also be concerts, exhibitions, and guided tours, including a visit to the Trøndelag stable. There will also be Santa’s workshop where children can write their own letters… and much more.

The museum is open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. A mandatory admission ticket is NOK 195 for adults and NOK 140 for students. Admission is FREE for children under 17.

RÅDHUSPLASSEN

PERIOD: from 15th November to 22nd December 2025

It is considered, by many, to be the most beautiful and lively of the Christmas in Oslo markets; as well as the most fascinating, thanks to the striking position along Piazza del Municipio, along the port’s bay. Suitable for everyone, adults and children, it is the traditional biggest market of the whole city.

You can stroll through beautiful and beautiful decorations, decorations and fantastic play of light that are reflected in the bay. Really an incredible sight!

Among the more than 100 exhibitors, you can buy home decorations, garlands, traditional handicrafts, drinks and the ever-present spicy and cinnamon sweets.

A market in the center, between the famous buildings Stortinget and Nationaltheatret, really beautiful and evocative. Every year attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors. Unique traditional products at bargain prices. You can walk and warm up by drinking gløgg; make purchases in the many stalls where you will be spoiled for choice. Traditional cakes and sweets; cured meat; warm wool sweaters and …. the inevitable Nisse, that is, the gnomes that you find everywhere.

The Market is particularly loved by families, for the many activities that are organized. Activities in which magic and emotion come together.

Workshops; magical fairy readings between elves and gnomes; music, choirs and Christmas carols with big and small musicians with wind instruments and clear voices like angels. Obviously, do not miss the house of Santa Claus: the right opportunity to take a picture with him.

Do not miss a romantic and suggestive walk along the Stjernehimmelen, the beautiful starry sky. Created in 2018, this stunning walkway illuminates the path that stretches from the Nationaltheater, along Stortingsgata to Eidsvoll Plass.

And what about a suggestive ice skating? Skøytebanen, is the ice rink, open every day of winter. ENTER IS FREE bringing your skates. Otherwise, you can rent them for the price of 200NOK.

The visit, can not be said complete without a ride on the Pariserhjulet, the Ferris Wheel (Julestjernen). It will be like being on the road to … .. the Christmas star. You will admire Oslo from above all shimmering: a truly magical spectacle. Cover yourself well: from this height you will risk getting really cold. Please note that children under 100cm must be accompanied. Ticket costs 98kr.

PERIOD: from 23rd November to 22nd December 2025

An old iron production pole, this village, located about 50 minutes by bus from Oslo, is particularly known for its shops and shopping centers. The old foundry and the furnace have been transformed into a real commercial center, which at this time dresses up with beautiful Christmas decorations; restaurants, galleries, boutiques and craft shops, cafes shine with their own lights and decorations.

Right here, one of the biggest Christmas trees in all of Norway is set up.

You can reach Bærums Verk, from Oslo, in 50 approximately minutes by bus 143 or, alternatively, the 753.

CHRISTMAS IN OSLO: OTHER MARKETS

Whether you stay in the center, or want to get away from the city for several kilometers, you can wander through numerous Christmas in Oslo markets. Youngstorget is the traditional event that takes place in the square of the same name around the fully illuminated ice rink. Open from mid-November to 22 December, from 11:00 to 20:00, it welcomes about 50 stalls dedicated mostly to antiques and Scandinavian handicrafts, and to local gastronomy. Warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Stortorvet Square, in the heart of the capital, hosts the traditional Oslo Christmas markets from 05 November. Here you will find many souvenirs and Christmas gifts and a wide culinary offer. Open every day until 22nd December 2025, from 11am to 8pm.
