DUKE FREDERICK STREET

The place for excellence. In the historic center, in front of the famous Tettuccio d’Oro, the city’s landmark, there are 70 stalls waiting for you, offering lots of decorations and handicrafts at affordable prices.
You can enjoy traditional Street Food in Innsbruck, including traditional Kiachln, krapfen of peasant origins, fried at the moment, and filled with a sweet or savory filling. It is to warm up, nothing better than the excellent Vin Brûlé.

Sweet melodies spread through the streets of the old town, traditionally, the busiest and most visited.

The market is open from 15 November to 23 December 2023, from 11:00 to 21:00. The shops, however, they close an hour earlier.

MARKETPLACE

The favorite place for families and children during Christmas Innsbruck. Marktplatz, with its beautiful sparkling crystal tree, is a sort of toy village, with lots of activities for the little ones.

There are animals, ponies to ride, puppets, shows for children. Many stands with gastronomic and artisan products.

Open from 15 November to 23 December 2023, from 11:00 to 21:00.

ST. NICHOLAS

The place preferred by the locals, for its atmosphere of calm and serenity. Less chaotic than the most renowned markets, it certainly can not be missed during your Christmas in Innsbruck.

Christmas music and typical local products await you on the other side of the river. A beautiful walk in the Waltherpark leads to Hans-Brenner-Platz on Innstraße.

It opens from 24 November to 23 December, from 16:00 to 21:00

MARIA-THERESIEN-STRASSE

The most commercial street of Innsbruck, hosts many stalls with many gastronomic and artisanal products. A very large crystal illuminates the whole street. You can relax and enjoy the many delicacies proposed among the various stands.

The market is one of the few open until the day of the Epiphany.
Open from 25 November 2023 to 06 January 2024, from 11:00 to 21:00. The booths close at 20:00. The 24/12 is open from 11:00 to 15:00. The 31/12 is open from 11:00 to 19:00.

HUNGERBURG

Christmas Inssbruck …. at high altitude. Impossible not to jump to the scenic viewpoint of the Hungerburg.

An extraordinary place where you will find a bit of everything and, above all, a fantastic view of the whole illuminated city. Arm yourself with a camera. You will certainly not be indifferent to the evocative charm of this wonderful place.

You can get to the top thanks to the Nordkettenbahnen, from the Congress (Hungerburgbahn) stop in the Rennweg area.

Open from 24 November 2023 to 06 January 2024, from Monday to Friday, from 13:00 to 19.00; Saturday, Sunday and holidays, from 12:00 to 19:00.

OTHER EVENTS IN CHRISTMAS IN INNSBRUCK

Christmas in Innsbruck is not just markets. Among concerts, shows, and parades of terrifying characters, you will be spoiled for choice.

To the delight of adults and children, the Christkindlbahn is a key event of the Innsbruck Christmas. This fantastic museum tramway, active only during Advent, takes you back in time, admiring the city all lit up. The trip is FOR FREE and you do not, then the ticket. It works from 01 to 23 November, every Friday and Saturday between 15.30 and 19.00. Departures from the main train station, but you can pick up at any stop along the way.

There is nothing more fascinating, than hundreds of children parading through the streets of Innsbruck, disguised as Angels. Sunday 17 December 2023, at 17:00, awaits you procession truly impressive, between Maria-Theresien-Straße, the Marktgraben, the Herzog-Otto-Straße and the Herrengasse. The parade ends in front of the Landestheater, where around 500 children will sing “Astro del Ciel”. On 09 and 10 December, at the Congress Palace an appointment with the suggestive Tyrolean songs.
