Welcome to the biggest Regatta in the world!
It reaches its edition number 56, the Barcolana, a historic sailing regatta that takes place in Italy in the Gulf of Trieste.
An extraordinary event that involves over 20000 sailors, and more than 200 thousand spectators.
Arranged in a truly incredible scenery, you can admire the Barcolana from the shores of Trieste, or from the heights, in what can be considered a natural stadium.
To make the event special, the incredible number of participants who, today, touches 2100 share of boats. No regatta in the world, boasts similar numbers. Side by side, professionals, enthusiasts or simple curious compete; they are divided according to the length of the boat, and arranged on a single starting line.
All in search of the famous Barcolana Cup, the trophy awarded to the winner of the general classification.
There will be other trophies and cups for the winners of individual categories, best skippers, ship owners, fair play…
And there will also be space for activities and collateral events, with a busy schedule of music and concerts, nightly shows, windsurfing and kitesurfing shows.
At the Barcolana Village, on the banks of Trieste, food and wine stands await you, as well as exhibitions of technical materials.
Everything, in the arc of 10 fantastic days.
PRACTICAL INFO
HOW TO GET
Trieste can be reached by air, calling at Venice Marco Polo. The airport is well connected, with direct flights, with the main European and extra-European destinations.
Just landed, you can reach Trieste comfortably by car, through the A4. Directly at the airport, you will find numerous agencies to rent a car.
Alternatively, those wishing to use the means must reach the central station of Venezia Mestre and, from here, take the train to Trieste.
The central station is located in the center, less than 10 minutes walk from the Red Bridge and Piazza Unità d’Italia.
BARCOLANA 2024 PROGRAM
There are really numerous events that will thrill sailors and visitors. The highlight, of course, will be Sunday 13th October with B56, the Historical Regatta in the Gulf of Trieste, from 10:30. The starting point is fixed between Barcola and Miramare.
Here are some events not to be missed during the festival.
Saturday 12th, at the Molo Audace – Bacino San Giusto, there will be the historic Regatta By Night Slam Cup, starting at around 7 pm. An evening show, along the docks, absolutely unmissable. Barcolana Village 56, is the ground-based event par excellence, with an area of over 25,000 m² along the banks of Trieste, and about 200 exhibitors. The exhibition spaces will be open to the public for the entire duration of the event, starting from Saturday 05th October 2024.
TICKETS 2024
Barcolana Experience is the best way to enjoy the 2024 edition. Unique and fascinating experiences, to attend the event in a truly unique way.
You can choose from numerous packages, each offering different experiences.
For example, it will be possible to admire Barcolana from the sea, for a truly unforgettable experience, aboard a motor ship. Departure is scheduled from the Rive at 9:30 in the morning with return one hour after the arrival of the first, around lunchtime.
On board snacks, assistance and the opportunity to listen to the news of the regatta live and get to know all the details of this magnificent event and its participants!
Alternatively, it will be possible to watch the entire regatta aboard a motorboat or dinghy with an experienced driver (about 236€ per person).
WHERE TO SLEEP
The availability in the center, on the occasion of the second weekend of October, is really limited, due to the considerable demand. It is advisable to book well in advance.
Located in the center of Trieste, 600 meters from the Giuseppe Verdi Opera House B&B Empire 1970 It offers a furnished terrace, rooms with modern furnishings and free WiFi throughout. Only 8 minutes walk from Trieste Central Station.
Recommended for those wishing to stay in the center, spending more than €100 per night.
The Empire’s rooms are colorful, with wooden floors and a shared bathroom with free toiletries and a hairdryer.
Breakfast, including cheese, cold cuts and cakes, is served in the shared kitchen, but can be served in your room upon request.
