WHERE: Brussels, Belgium
WHEN: from 08 to 10 September 2023
For those who don’t know, Belgium is rightly considered the homeland of comics (bande dessinée, as they say around here). Tintin. Luke Luke. The Smurfs… are just some of the most famous comics born from the pen of great local artists. Precisely for this reason, an exhibition dedicated to the world of comics could not be missing.
Every year, in September, for an entire weekend, Brussels comes alive with the most beloved characters in the world of comics: the BD Comic Strip Festival.
An event that has now become a real must for the city, now in its twelfth edition.
A festival that embraces many generations of fans, and not; young and old.
Three days of shows, live performances, conferences and exhibitions, to get closer to an art that is still little appreciated.
You will have the opportunity to be in close contact with industry experts, designers, journalists and, of course, all fans of the genre.
The creative workshops, on the other hand, are an opportunity to set in motion the imagination of the little ones, called to produce their own personal comic.
All this, against the backdrop of the beautiful Brussels and the suggestive park, one of the locations of the event, with some of the most important art galleries. Museums, monuments and wonderful attractions await you on a holiday in the capital. Guaranteed fun for everyone.
The venue for the festival will be the Parc T&T (Tour & Taxis) in Brussels, a former industrial site adjacent to Laeken and Molenbeek-Saint-Jean.
T&T Park is located at Dieudonné Lefèvre 24, about 1 kilometer west of the Northern Quarter business district.
The place is easily accessible by public transport. The Pannenhuis station of the L6 metro line is just a 5-minute walk away. Alternatively, it is possible to use the S10 railway line, getting off at the Tour & Taxis, near the metro. By bus, you can use the lines 86, 88, 230, 231, 232, 240, 241, 242, 243, 245, 250, 251, 260.
The XIX edition of the Comics Strip Festival will take place, as per tradition, during the second weekend of September, with the following times:
Friday, from 12:00 to 18:00.
Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 to 18:00
Admission to almost all of the exhibitions is FREE. However, it is preferable to make a reservation to access some exhibitions.
As per tradition, the billboard will be full of events, starting from the day of the inauguration.
For the duration of the festival, you will be able to attend workshops, activities, permanent exhibitions, sessions to receive autographs.
The conferences are held with journalists and industry experts, on the world of comics, news and future releases.
Ballon Day is, as usual, the most awaited moment of the Festival. It is an extraordinary parade through the streets of the center, among giant colored balloons and comic book characters. The procession parades between lace des Palais -Rue Ducale – Rue de la Loi – Rue des Colonies – Place de l’Albertine – Boulevard de l’Empereur – Rue des Alexiens – Rue des Bogaerds – Boulevard Anspach and will reach the avenues of the city center
