Christmas in Colmar is truly unique, just like a few. One of the most loved, all over Europe, by visitors. And, for many, one of the most beautiful. Last year, in fact, it ranked second among the best Christmas markets in Europe!
The markets represent a small universe in its own right. In each one pervades that sense of warmth, intimacy, and hospitality that people know how to transmit. The squares are transformed into real small villages. Small shops, streets and even private houses, all decorated and lit up for a party, contribute to creating a unique atmosphere. A place where the passion reigns over even the small things.
And then, many activities. Christmas carols. Rides. Ice rink.
Christmas in Colmar is truly unforgettable. Seeing is believing.
Five squares host as many wonderful markets. Christmas in Colmar 2024, officially begins Friday 26th November. The markets are held every day, from Monday to Thursday, from 10:00 to 19:00; from Friday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 20:00. On 24/12, they close at 17:00. On Christmas Day, open from 14:00 to 19:00.

A wonderful flea market dominated by the silhouette of the splendid Dominican Church, in the square of the same name.
The atmosphere is really incredible, between lights and colors. You will be able to walk among about 60 small houses that host handicrafts of glaziers, cabinet makers, restorers. And, of course, the ever-present Christmas decorations, for your most original gifts.
The market of the old city. Fifty houses distributed in the square where the Ancient Customs House is located, on both sides of the river. In Place de l’Ancienne Douane you will find a charming market with lots of decorations, decorations and eccentric objects.
And it is during the evening that the show becomes magic, with the shimmering lights that illuminate the Koïfhus.
Literally, Little Venice; is the Christmas market in Colmar, dedicated to children and families. It takes place in the homonymous district, one of the most picturesque and evocative of the French town.
Children can climb on the carousel, riding a horse. They will be able to make friends with goats and rabbits. Bring the letter to Santa Claus that, it seems, clothes right here.
The magic, however, continues with the boats that line the waters, all illuminated. On board, the children sing exciting Christmas carols. A truly wonderful show.
Christmas in Colmar is also synonymous with tradition. What the Alsacians are quite proud of. The Koïfhus market has its roots in local history. In fact, it is an indoor space dedicated to art and crafts.
You will find interesting creations by artists, master glassmakers, inlayers, jewelers and many others. You can see their work closely, and even take a look at ancient texts and jewels in one of the halls of the building.
On the first floor, the exhibits of the Toy Museum are not to be missed.
Probably the ideal market of lovers of gastronomy. In typical houses, you will find many products and, above all, the best Alsatian specialties. And, in addition, meats, cheeses, foie gras, wine and the ever present gingerbread.
The program, as per tradition, is really rich. There are proposals suitable for all tastes and ages.
At the Church of Saint Marie, in Rue Maimbourg, it will be possible to admire the mechanical Nativity scene with about 30 characters of the tradition that come to life and move.
At Place Rapp, until December 29th, an evocative outdoor Ice Rink of about 800 square meters awaits you. To the delight of young and old. Admission costs €2.50 per person, to which €2.50 must be added for the rental of skates. In the area, you can visit the Christmas Tree Market. The ice rink is open from Monday to Thursday, from 14:00 to 19:00; from Friday to Sunday, from 11:00 to 20:00.
Just the children, in the same area, can have fun on board the Christmas train.
In the charming Petite Venice district, one of the most evocative shows awaits you, with Christmas carols performed by children on board boats. The little artists of the Kayserberg school will perform every Wednesday and Saturday. Appointment from 27th November to 18th December, from 17:00 to 18:00, at Pont Turenne, Quai de la Poissonnerie.
