Barcelona El Prat is an international airport, located in the municipality of El Prat de Llobregat, approximately 12 km southwest of Barcelona. It is the second airport for passenger traffic in all of Spain, as well as among the top ten in all of Europe.
The airport is the hub of the airline Vueling. It has two terminals, of which T1 is among the largest in the world! The airport is well connected with the main Iberian and European destinations; in addition, several direct flights to Asia, the United States and South America are also insured. Barcelona Airport has numerous bars, fast food outlets and restaurants inside; some also offer Spanish haute cuisine menus. And, again, malls, shopping, boutiques and duty-free.
The Wifi line is available, free of charge, throughout the hotel. Just connect your device to the free network.
There are also numerous services dedicated to families and small children. There are changing areas and changing tables located near the bathrooms, and well signposted. At the checkpoints, families with small children (and people requiring special assistance) will have a dedicated lane available.

From the airport, there are various solutions that allow you to reach the city center more or less quickly.
Line 9 of the metro has been active since February 2016, connecting Barcelona Airport with Zona Universitària (terminus). Personally I preferred the transfer by metro (instead of the fast Aerobus) because it is included with the Barcelona Card and the Hola Card.
Line 9 of the metro passes through both airport terminals. In T1, it is located on the ground floor inside the airport; in T2, it is located externally, just outside the Terminal, near the railway station. In both cases they are perfectly marked: you can’t go wrong!
Line 9 makes the following stops: Zona Universitària, Collblanc, Torrassa, Can Tries / Gornal, Europa / Fira, Fira, Parc Logístic, Mercabarna, Les Moreres, El Prat Estació, Cèntric, Parc Nou, Mas Blau, Aeroport T2 and Aeroport T1. In Torrassa it connects with Line 1. Collblanc is an interchange of Line 2, Zona Universitària is connected with Line 3.
The metro is active from 05:00 in the morning until late in the evening. You need to buy a BITLLET SENZILL AEROPORT that allows you to make a one-way trip on the subway. The ticket costs 5.50€; it can be purchased at the airport and in the stations, in the special machines or at affiliated merchants. As mentioned, the transfer to/from the airport by metro is INCLUDED WITH THE HOLA CARD.
Light blue in color and easily identifiable by the large writing on the side of the vehicle, the Aerobuses are fast buses that connect Barcelona Airport and the city center in about 35 minutes.
The bus operates all year round, including Sundays and holidays, with departures every 5 minutes. It quickly connects the two terminals with Pl. Espanya, Gran Via Urgell, Pl. Universitat and Pl. Catalunya.
The stop is easy to find outside each terminal. There is a ramp for wheelchair users and reserved seats for the disabled. Since 2015, the various buses have made the free Wifi network available. Tickets cost 6.75€for one way and 11.65€ for return. Children under 4 travel for free. Just keep in mind that the AEROBÚS IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE HOLA CARD!
Thanks to the Línies Diurnes and Nitbuses, you can reach the center of Barcelona in an economical way, at all hours of the day. The service is managed by TMB (Transports Metropolitan de Barcelona), through several lines. With a simple BITLLET SENZILL you can reach the city. The Línies Diurnes are in operation every day from morning until late evening. Here is the complete list:
Nitbus, is the road line, active during the night, which connects Barcelona El Prat airport and Placa Catalunya. Buses N16 and N17 follow the same route, passing through L’HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT and EL PRAT DE LLOBREGAT. Line N16 leaves from Terminal 2; the N17 line, from Terminal T1.
Outside the Terminal 2 of Barcelona El Prat airport, there is the railway station from which trains leave for Sants and Passeig de Gràcia. A free shuttle connects the two airport terminals quite frequently.
The train is an excellent solution especially if you want to reach other Catalan cities. Thanks to the RENFE trains you can get to El Prat de Llobregat, Granollers, Sant Celoni, Maçanet-Massanes and more. More information on the official website, from this link.
