“Barcelona enters your blood and steals your soul” [Carlos Ruiz Zafón]
A magical city, able to excite at first glance. The Catalan city is one of those places that are loved, immediately.
It will be for its splendid architecture; good food; the warmth of the people; its wonderful parks; the splendid monuments; the sea and its never cold climate. The reasons why it is worth visiting the city, are really many.
A city never banal, at the forefront, that can express its charm at any time of the year. Barceloneta, its beautiful promenade, is a constant invitation to make “fiesta” between bar-tapas and bars open until late at night. El Gòtic, true home of all artists. Art that you breathe in every corner of the city, where you can walk in the sign of Pablo Picasso and Anton Gaudì. Barcelona of the Sagrada Familia. Barcelona of Montjuic.
Barcelona … it enters your blood and steals your soul.
The plane is the most comfortable, quickest and fastest way to reach the Catalan city. El Prat, is the closest airport; Girona-Costa Brava, is a valid alternative, because it is not far from the city.
El Prat is an international airport, located in the municipality of El Prat de Llobregat, approximately 12 km southwest of Barcelona. It is the second airport for passenger traffic in all of Spain, as well as among the top ten in all of Europe.
From the airport you can easily reach the center by metro (Line 9), active since 2016. The ticket is included with the Hola Card. In Collblanc and Torrassa you can change, respectively, to line L2 and line L1. Alternatively, you can use the city buses or the faster Aerobus connection (6.75€ per person).
The international airport of Girona Costa Brava, on the other hand, thanks to the numerous low cost connections, is an excellent alternative.
Spain’s Sagalés connects the airport with numerous Iberian destinations including Barcelona, Girona, Lloret De Mar, and the Costa Brava. The buses, quite modern, have all the comforts and a wifi line. In addition, they can be used by people with reduced mobility. They leave in front of the airport terminal exit.
Bus 602 connects Girona Costa Brava with Barcelona in about an hour. The bus stops at Estació del Nord. The one-way ticket costs €19.50 per person (adults and children).
Barcelona has one of the most important commercial and industrial ports in the whole of the Mediterranean. Every day, from here, there are about 15 crossings. The city is connected with Civitavecchia, Livorno, Savona and the Sardinian Porto Torres, in Italy. Boats to Ibiza, Ciutadella & Mahon on the island of Menorca and the ports of Alcudia and Palama in Mallorca also leave from the Catalan port. In addition, links to Tangiers, Med and Nador in Morocco.
Furthermore, all the major cruise lines dock in Barcelona. No cruise in the Mediterranean can disregard the Catalan city, which is a must for all. Seven of the nine Port Terminals are available for Cruise Ships.
To reach the Catalan city, from the Spanish capital, you have to travel more than 600 kilometers. Distance doubled if you wanted to leave from Portugal. Lisbon, in fact, is about 1250 kilometers.
The distances are not prohibitive, however, from southern France. Montpellier is 350 kilometers, Marseille 500 and Nice 650 kilometers. By making the stops, even from Genoa, in Italy, you can think of facing a road trip to Barcelona. The distance is about 800 kilometers.
