The best and cheapest way to get to the city: just €4.50 with the S-Bahn line S7. Travel time is approximately 20 minutes. Less advertised than the CAT (see later), but extremely valid. In our opinion, the best means of connection to get to the centre. Tickets can be purchased directly at the station. Children travel for free accompanied by a paying adult
This is undoubtedly the quickest and most expensive way to reach the centre. The City Airport Train, better known by the acronym CAT, is a quick and easy train that takes just 16 minutes to reach your destination. The route is direct, without making any stops. The first departure is at 06:08 from Vienna Airport and at 05:37 from Wien Mitte. Last ride, respectively, at 11.38pm and 11.07pm. The one-way ticket costs €14.90, while the return ticket costs €24.90. Children up to 14 years travel for free. Free Wi-Fi, available in all carriages.
Three express lines (Vienna Airport Lines) connect the airport with the city, for a total of 12 stops. The VAL 1 line connects Vienna Airport with Hauptbanhof and Westbahnhof and is active all day, 24 hours a day with 30-minute frequencies. The VAL 2 line connects every half hour from Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz to Vienna airport, from 03:30 to 23:30. The VAL 3 line is active every day from 04.58 to 19.58. It connects the airport with Donauzentrum, making stops at Kagraner Brücke, Hotel NH Danube City, Kaisermühlen/VIC (Austria Center), Krieau (Messe Wien), Stadion, Donaumarina.
A one-way ticket costs €10 for adults and €6 for children aged 6 to 14. Round trip, €17.50 for adults and €10 for children.
Flixbus, Rejojet, Slovak Airlines offer connections to Bratislava in modern and comfortable buses at incredibly cheap rates. Buses connect Bratislava Einsteinova non-stop in 40 minutes; in 45 minutes, Bratislava Most SNP; in about an hour, the Bratislava airport.
The rides are quite frequent and the prices, on offer, start at just €5.00. The same companies allow you to reach other destinations from Vienna Airport. In less than 3 hours, for example, you can reach Budapest. There are connections with Sibiu (Romania), Wroclaw and Krakow (Poland), Ljubljana (Slovenia).
