VIENNA AIRPORT – CITY CONNECTIONS

The airport is well connected by public transport with the center of the capital. The choice is quite large.

SUBURBAN RAILWAY

The best and cheapest way to get to the city. You will pay just €4.20 to get to the capital, with the S7 line of the S-Bahn. Journey time is approximately 20 minutes. Less advertised than CAT (see later), but extremely good. In our opinion, the top link to get to the center. Tickets can be purchased directly at the station.

CAT

This is undoubtedly the fastest and most expensive way to reach the center. The City Airport Train, better known by the acronym CAT, is a fast and fast train that takes just 16 minutes to reach your destination. The journey is direct, without making stops. The first departure is at 06:08 from Vienna Airport and at 05:37 from Wien Mitte. Last race, respectively, at 23:38 and 23:07. The one-way ticket costs €12.00, while the return ticket costs €21.00. Children up to 14 travel for free. Free Wi-Fi, available in all wagons.

Alternatively, you can opt for the S7 fast train (stops in Vienna city center, Wolfsthal, Vienna Airport), or the Intercity (ICE) with stops in Linz, St. Pölten, Vienna HBF, and Vienna Airport. Further info on the official website: www.oebb.at

BUS

Three bus lines (Vienna Airport Lines) connect the airport with the city, for a total of 14 stops and 93 trips a day. There are connections every 30 minutes from Wien Schwechat to Wien Westbahnhof. The bus stops at Volkstheater, Rathaus and Schottentor. The line to the city center (Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz), has a frequency of 20 minutes, and is active all day, 24 hours a day!

The one-way ticket costs €8.00; round trip, €13.00.

CONNECTIONS TO BRATISLAVA AND OTHER CITIES

Flixbus, Rejojet, Slovak Airlines offer connections to Bratislava in modern and comfortable buses at incredibly cheap rates. Buses connect Bratislava Einsteinova non-stop in 40 minutes; in 45 minutes, Bratislava Most SNP; in about an hour, the Bratislava airport.

The rides are quite frequent and the prices, on offer, start at just €5.00. The same companies allow you to reach other destinations from Vienna Airport. In less than 3 hours, for example, you can reach Budapest. There are connections with Sibiu (Romania), Wroclaw and Krakow (Poland), Ljubljana (Slovenia).
