His Majesty’s Fortress, better known as the Tower of London, is one of the must-see attractions of the splendid British capital. It was once a historic fortress, surrounded by a moat and guarded by wild animals. Today, it is one of the most visited and symbolic places in the city, listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1988.
The Tower of London (Tower of London) is without undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval fortresses in Europe. It embodies the power of the Monarchy and it is in this very place that the crown jewels have been kept since the reign of Henry III in the 13th century.
Today, in addition to having the opportunity to visit the splendid fortress and the jewels, you can experience the thrill of letting yourself be guided by a true Yeomen, between ancient walls, towers, ravines and cannons. A tour also recommended for younger visitors.
The attraction is located at St Katharine’s & Wapping, London EC3N 4AB, United Kingdom. It is easily accessible by public transport. With the Circle and District lines of the tube, just get off at The Tower and, in a few minutes’ walk, you will arrive at your destination. Numerous bus lines, including 786, 788, 789 and the nocturnal bus n15, stop a short distance from the Tower.
You can also get there by crossing the Thames, and getting off at the Tower Pier or St.Katherine Pier ferry terminals.
