Greenwich: Observatory, Park, Market. What to see in Greenwich

Greenwich

A green lung of 183 acres in which to relax, take pleasant walks and enjoy a suggestive skyline over the city.
A market with shops and stalls where you can buy souvenirs and the best street food proposals.
An interesting museum (free) to get to know the history of the British Navy and the conquest of the seas up close.
The possibility of being able to put one foot in the eastern hemisphere and one foot in the western one at the same time….

All of this is enclosed in Greenwich, one of the most fascinating districts of London but often little considered due to its secluded position from the center and the main attractions.

In fact, visiting Greenwich would take almost a day and, precisely for this reason, it is mainly Londoners who come to these parts. Especially on nice days.

If you have more than just a weekend to visit London, make your way to Greenwich: we’re sure you won’t regret it.

GREENWICH MARKET

Greenwich Market London

A historic indoor market with numerous shops and stalls offering a variety of products: antiques, souvenirs, small artifacts, clothing and, of course, international street food.
Less famous and other markets in London, it can be a good stop for lunch or looking for some good business.
Open Monday to Sunday 10am to 5.30pm.

ROYAL OBSERVATORY

The astronomical observatory dates back to the 18th century and today houses an interesting museum with a planetarium.
A place full of charm and history.
Before entering, you can politely line up to take the usual photo of the meridian line. You will be able to experience the thrill of placing one foot in the eastern hemisphere and one foot in the western one at the same time.

The Observatory is open every day, including Sundays and holidays, from 10:00 to 17:00.
The ticket costs £18 per adult and £9 concessions. A combined version with Cutty Sark is available at a cost of €27 (adults) and £13.50 (reduced).

HOW TO GET TO GREENWICH LONDON

The ferry is undoubtedly the most atmospheric way to reach the district. We recommend doing it at least in one sense. From Tower Millennium Pier (not far from Tower Bridge) it takes just under 40 minutes with the RB1 and RB6 ferry lines.

By underground, get off at the North Greenwich stop with a direct route from Westminster on the Jubilee line (about 15 minutes ).
If you travel only by bus you can opt for the 183 line. In this case, take into account the journey times more than doubled!
