Petaloudes is a small town in the Aegean whose name literally means “butterflies”. The latter are the real protagonists of one of the most evocative places in Rhodes, not surprisingly called the Valley of Butterflies.
Here a truly wonderful show awaits you, in a truly unique and magical setting among ancient trees, streams, wooden bridges and small waterfalls.

The forest is home to majestic specimens of Liquidambar Orientalis, or “Zitia”, centuries-old trees that every summer give off a particular resin with a particularly attractive scent…. for butterflies. This is one of the main reasons why from April to September, an incredible myriad of orange and black butterflies, of the “Arlecchino Dotted” species, invade a small valley about 25 km south-west of the capital.

A truly spectacular phenomenon for visitors of all ages. Butterflies often sleep on the shady sides of tree trunks, or around the roots but not. There are moments of pure magic when they wake up and form a real cloud of colors.

A real journey into unspoiled nature that offers peace and relaxation, and a completely unexpected glimpse of Rhodes, far away from the crowds and chaos of the capital and the beaches.
