Inside the medieval city you can easily get around on foot. On the other hand, for those wishing to move to the neighboring areas and move from the historic center, there is no shortage of alternatives.
BIKES
The bicycle is a particularly popular means of transport throughout Transylvania. An “eco-friendly” way for getting around Sibiu and reach the points of interest and villages furthest from the center.
I’Velo is a reliable bike sharing service, transplanted from Bucharest to other Romanian cities, including Sibiu. In Piata Unirii there is the central counter I’Velo, where you can rent one of the many yellow bikes present, at a cost of 15LEI.
BUS
A total of 31 bus and trolley bus lines circulate in Sibiu, managed by the Romanian company TURSIB. Of these, 7 are used exclusively for public transport and another (22) is a tourist line.
The lines are classified according to the importance of the route.
Lines 1, 2, 3 and 5 are main lines, active every day, generally from Monday to Friday from about 05:15 to 23:00. Saturday and Sunday, from 06:00 to 21:30. During the weekdays, the frequency varies from 10 to 20 minutes.
Numbers 8 to 19 identify the 11 secondary lines. The name, however, should not be confusing. They are, in fact, public transport that cross peripheral neighborhoods and neighboring areas that are not necessarily of secondary importance. This is the case, for example, of line 11 which connects the center with the airport, and the various lines that arrive at the Central Station.
Line 22 towards Paltinis is, on the other hand, identified as the Tourist Line.
