Sighisoara. How to arrive by car, train or plane. Connections

Sighisoara

The home town of Vlad Tepes.

The myth of Dracula lives on every street, square and corner of Sighisoara.
There is no travel in Transylvania, without having set foot in this beautiful city.
But, far from the stereotypes and the merely commercial aspects, Sighisoara presents itself as a romantic and, at the same time, mysterious city.
Two souls that live together in symbiosis, day and night.

Try to make a jump in the middle of winter, and in the evening, with the city, almost completely empty, and the cold and pungent cold blows on your face!

Crossing, however, its beautiful old town, it seems that the hands of the clock have been stopped for several centuries. So beautiful, fascinating and charming, to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Sighisoara, represents the very essence of Transylvania.

HOW TO GET TO SIGHISOARA

CAR

The beautiful city is one of the must-see destinations on a trip to Transylvania. You could hardly think of a trip to Sighisoara, without having stopped in at least one or two cities in the Region.
Sibiu. Brasov. Timisoara. And, of course, the castles you will meet on the way.

The car, therefore, represents the most immediate solution to reach Sighisoara and, above all, to visit Transylvania.
Geographically, the city is located in Mures County, almost in the center of the country. From the capital, it is about 300 kilometers, passable over 4 hours, passing through Brasov. From the latter, the distance is just over 100 kilometers, most of which on E60 road.
From Timisoara, however, the distance is about 360 kilometers. Until Sibiu, you can use the A1.
The lack of connecting highways is absolutely not a gap. Quite the contrary. Beautiful landscapes await you, and really suggestive views.

TRAIN

The charm of train travel is not for everyone. Frequent frequencies and services that are not really excellent, make this solution impractical for many. But not for this reason not recommended.
From Romania, you can admire the beautiful surrounding landscape while sitting comfortably.
The railway station, rather small, is located in the center.

Getting to Sighisoara by train is recommended only for those coming from Transylvania. Otherwise, we must take into account the poor connections with foreign countries, and the excessive travel time.

PLANE

There is obviously no direct air connection with Sighisoara. The international airports of Cluj Napoca, Bucharest, Sibiu and Timisoara are a starting point.
The international airports of Bucharest-Henri Coanda and Cluj-Avram Iancu, are the most important international airports, it is better connected with abroad, distant, respectively, 270 and 160 kilometers.
From any airport at the airport, it is preferable to travel by car, renting your car directly at the airport.
