ZURICH AIRPORT – CITY CONNECTIONS

TRAIN

The train station is located on the lower level of the airport, easily accessible by following the appropriate directions.

The train is the best and quickest way to get to the center of Zurich. Every day connections are guaranteed every 5 and 10 minutes from the airport to the central railway station, and vice versa. Trains depart from approximately 05:00 until midnight.

To reach the center and the Zurich HBF station, you must always buy a ticket for 3 ZONES, at a cost of 7CHF (just more 7€). It is important to remember that when using public transport in Zurich, the center is always counted as 2 ZONES. This explains why you have to buy the ticket from 3 zones (and not 2 as it should actually be), at the airport, to get to the center of Zurich.

TRAM

Opposite the Zurich airport is the Stadtbahn Glattal stop, an important interchange of light rail and buses.

Tram 10, represents the alternative solution to reach the center of Zurich, if you don’t want to use the train. With a frequency of between 7 (peak times) and 15 minutes, Tram 10 allows you to reach Zurich HBF (the central railway station) through Glattpark, Oerlikon and Irchel. The journey time is 35 minutes

The ticket is the same as for trains and buses.

CONNECTIONS WITH SWITZERLAND

In the railway station of Zurich Kloten Airport, numerous short and medium/long-range trains circulate for Switzerland and neighboring countries.

The service is regulated by the SBB transport company, which guarantees daily connections with numerous destinations. Thanks to the InterRegio, InterCity and Eurocity trains, it is possible to reach Basel, Bern, Constance, Geneva, Lausanne, Lucerne, Munich, St. Gallen and many other destinations.

To Bern, the journey takes approximately 70 minutes. The ticket costs around 56 CHF. For Lausanne, however, the travel time is about 150′; the full ticket, 2nd class, costs around 78 CHF at full fare (from 54 to 68 CHF at a discounted non-refundable fare, if available).
