Known by the name of “City by The Bay” San Francisco is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful cities in the United States. The most “European” among American cities, an excellent starting point for a journey on The Road in California.
A cosmopolitan and tolerant city, with an important cultural vocation, and a fascinating architecture.
In an incredible succession of climbs and descents, between hills and hairpin bends, you can admire its unique conformation. And take beautiful pictures between suggestive views and exciting views, with a magnificent view of the bay. A magic systematically revived by the camera of directors and screenwriters who often made it their own movie set.
DISTRICTS
San Francisco, like all the great American metropolises, is divided into districts. Each, with a strong identity, and its own autonomy.
Union Square is the nerve center of the city. A particularly lively area, both during the day and at night. Starting point for discovering the beautiful city, it is, for many, the ideal place to look for accommodation.
Golden Gate and Fisherman’s Wharf are the most touristic areas. The latter, along the coast, is one of the areas par excellence, with many bars, shops and markets. In several districts of Mission District, Tenderloin, and some areas in the south-east, on the other hand, it is difficult to venture.
HOW TO GET TO SAN FRANCISCO
Thanks to the presence of as many as 3 airports, SF can be reached by direct flights from Europe and America, or, alternatively, via the USA.
SFO, the most important of the three, is among the busiest airports in America, with over 28 million passengers in transit each year.
It is located about twenty kilometers from the center, and is well connected, with direct flights, from Europe, Asia and the United States.
The efficient BART allows you to get to the city in no time. It works 24/7.
Oakland Airport is about 15 kilometers south of the Californian city, not far from San Francisco. From here, there are direct connections to the United States, America, Asia and Europe.
The BART rail express service allows you to reach San Francisco in just over 20 minutes. The BART BLUE TICKET ticket for SF South costs $ 11.65 per adult. You buy before the trip through the appropriate mscchineyte
San Jose airport, second for passenger traffic, offers few direct connections with Europe. British and Lufthansa are the only ones to offer direct connections to London and Frankfurt.
From here, however, there are numerous, and frequent, daily flights to the main American, Mexico, Canada and Asia destinations. Landed at the airport, with the free Shuttle Bus, AIRPORT FLYER, you can reach the Santa Clara train station. From the latter, you can use the ACE and Caltrain trains to get around the Bay Area, including San Francisco.
