Ioannis Kapodistrias is the international Corfu Airport, located about 3 kilometers south of the homonymous city. Named in memory of the diplomat, the first head of state of independent Greece, it has two terminals and entered into operation in 1962. From the airport, the aerial view of Pontikonisi, the Vlacherna Monastery, and the hills of Kanoni is truly spectacular. during the take-off or landing procedure.
Corfu airport has all the basic services. Inside you will find refreshment points, bars, restaurants, duty-free. There are ATMs for withdrawing cash in the local currency. The WIFI line is available throughout the hotel: you just have to connect through your device to the “Fraport-Free” network and register from the welcome page.
For those who choose Athens as an intermediate stop, it takes just under an hour by plane to reach the island from the capital; Aegean Airlines, the Greek national airline, makes direct connections every day. The remaining direct connections take place exclusively during the summer period.

Those wishing to reach Corfu Town by public transport can use bus 15 (Corfu City Bus) whose stop is located in front of the Terminal A exit. The complete journey to the port takes 15 minutes. Stops at San Rocco Square, in the city centre. The ticket (ZONE A) can be purchased from vending machines or retailers and costs €1.20 per adult and €0.80 for children and students. It can also be purchased on board the vehicle for a SURCHARGE.
From Monday to Saturday there are approximately 10 trips, from 7.10am to approximately 9.45pm. On Sundays and holidays there are only 4 trips per day.
Those who prefer to rent a car directly at the airport (recommended), simply have to follow Route 25 which leads to the city center. The journey is quite short.
The car is the best solution to reach the center and, above all, to move around the island. We recommend using local rental agencies that offer really cheap prices (among these we recommend GoCar and Sunrise).
The taxi rank is located outside the airport, on the ARRIVALS side, Terminal A. The service operates 24/7. The journey to the center takes about 10 minutes and the cost is around €25 for a ride for up to 4 people. It is always recommended to check in advance the rate applied by the taxi.
The vehicles are easily identifiable by the writing on the vehicle.
