In Naples it’s Christmas all year round. A tour of Via San Gregorio Armeno, even in the height of summer, gives a good idea of this statement.
It is no coincidence that it is nicknamed the “Street of Cribs“
Here, all year round, the great master craftsmen work to create their small and large works of art, destined to enter our homes.
You can admire extraordinary exhibitions held throughout the year. And, of course, buy them.
You will also find famous people of the moment.
After all, the nativity scene is an art and, precisely in Naples, reaches one of the highest expressions.
You can admire the extraordinary cork cribs, and figurines of all sizes.
The master craftsmen are friendly and helpful. By talking to them, you will learn all about this extraordinary art, the symbols and the meaning of each shepherd.
A real leap in time.
The street, of course, is one of the symbolic places of Christmas in Naples. In this period you will have to walk in the midst of rivers of people, among the lights and colors of a city in celebration. A truly unique atmosphere!

San Gregorio is not just shops and cribs.
At the very beginning of the street, the anonymous Vico Maffei gives access to one of those places that are truly stunned: the wonderful Cloister.
Entering the Monastery, the sensation is that of being in a place almost suspended in time and space.
A relaxing and peaceful atmosphere, completely opposite to that of the busy external road.
The complex is managed by the Poor Clare nuns and has a beautiful Cloister with a marble fountain in the center with Christ and the Samaritan woman. You can admire bell towers, majolica domes, and the Hydra chapel, the only testimony of the primitive church. Very beautiful also the frescoed room of the abbess Pignatelli, and the refectory,
