On holiday in Thessaloniki you might be pleasantly surprised by the offer in terms of museums. Starting with the Archaeological Museum, one of the most important in all of Greece!
It stands in a real “quadrilateral of Culture”, which includes the War Museum, the Museum of Byzantine Culture and the MOMus, all located a short distance from each other.
The offer of the Museums of Thessaloniki expands with the presence of other minor cultural centers that would be really impossible to visit during a few days’ vacation.
Here are the main places of Thessaloniki culture not to be missed on a short vacation.

It is located within walking distance of the Archaeological Museum, between the Town Hall and the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen. It was officially opened in 1994 and features 11 permanent exhibitions with works from the 2nd to the 20th century.
Admire sculptures, sacred icons, jewels, coins, seals and artifacts. Most of the objects come from Thessaloniki and Macedonia, from churches, private homes and cemeteries.
The most valuable works are rare fabrics from the early Byzantine period, mosaics and iconic paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Without a doubt among the museums of Thessaloniki not to be missed.
