Sa Carneiro is an international airport located approximately 11 kilometers from the center of the Portuguese city of Porto. By passenger volume, it is the second busiest airport in the whole country, behind the Lisbon airport. It is named after Francisco Sa Carneiro, Portuguese Prime Minister, who died in a plane crash.
Inside the Terminal, numerous dining options, bars and fast-food restaurants with international gastronomic proposals are available to travelers. You will also find shopping areas, shops and duty-free. Throughout the building you can surf for FREE using the “_VINCI Airport WiFi” network. Just connect your device and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you are traveling with children, you will have well-marked changing areas available. After passing through the security gates on the second floor, children aged 2 to 7 can access the Playground area.

The Sa Carneiro airport is well served by public transport. Alternatively, you can use the metro or bus to reach the city center.
In the Terminal there is a station on the Porto Metro line, which can be easily reached by following the appropriate indications. Line E runs from Porto airport to Estadio do Dragão station, passing through the city center. The metro operates every day, including holidays, from 06:00 to 01:00 at night, with frequencies ranging from 20 to 30 minutes approximately. The complete journey from the two terminus takes about 40 minutes.
To travel by metro, you will need to purchase the ANDANTE AZUL for the first time. It is a rechargeable card, and costs €0.60. The rate depends on the number of zones crossed by the airport to your destination. The airport is located in the VCD8 area; the center, on the other hand, is located in the PRT1 area. To make the transfer, you will need to purchase a ticket for 4 zones (Z4) at a cost of €2.15, with a validity of 75′ from validation. Alternatively, you can opt for the 24h ticket at a cost of 7.55€ per person. The fare is the same for all travelers except for children under the age of 4 who travel FREE
Tickets and ANDANTE AZUL CARD can be purchased directly at the airport at the special automatic machines.

There is a bus station outside the Terminal. Buses connect Porto Airport with different areas of the city. STCP manages lines 601 and 602 which, with opposite routes, connect Cordoaria and the airport, from 05:30 to midnight. Line 604, active from 06:00 to 21:00, arrives instead at S. João Hospital. The same fares apply as for the metro.
From the international airport, you can reach various Lusitanian destinations. To reach Braga and Guimarães, you can use the comfortable and efficient Getbus buses. Active from Monday to Friday, from about 08:00 to 22:00; Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from about 09:00 to 18:00. The journey, for both destinations, takes 50 minutes. The standard fare ticket to Braga costs €9 one way and €16 return. For Guimarães, €8 (one way) and €14 (return).
