Art, history, monuments and, above all, gastronomy, are among the main reasons for a visit.

Among the places not to be missed during your holiday is the Bolhao market, one of the most emblematic places in the city, with a centuries-old history.
Built in 1914, it has 4 entrances from as many city streets and is spread over two floors. Fruit and vegetables, fresh fish and many gastronomic proposals are among the main products sold. You will, of course, also find other products, many of which in the shops located adjacent to the building.

The Bolhao Market, in fact, is located in a central and particularly lively area of the city, with many shops.

Since 2013 it has been declared a Monument of Public Interest.

After a few years of decay, a redevelopment project for the site was approved. The works began in 2018 and will be completed in 2022. Although it is temporarily closed, a special Mercado Temporário Bolhão has been set up in Rua de Fernandes Tomás, 506/508, inside the shopping center “La Vie Porto Baixa “. It is just a two minute walk from the main market.
