An extraordinary, and somewhat suggestive, journey into an underground world… in Transylvania.
Do not expect vampires and bats but an incredible mine, since 2010, historical monument of the national cultural heritage of Romania. A short distance from Cluj Napoca
A journey through paths and underground paths, hidden from the human eye. Mines await you, and an ancient winch with which, in the 19th century, salt was extracted.
The current appearance is due to the recent modernization operations. Today, the Salina Turda is a mining museum, halotherapy tourist center and amusement park!
Romania is also confirmed as one of the favorite locations for directors and screenwriters. Salina Turda was not exempt either, hosting the filming of the Thriller “Nameless” in 2014.
The Salina Turda is located along the DN1 road, less than 40 kilometers from Cluj Napoca. The latter is served by the Avram Iancu International Airport, the second most important in all of Romania.
You can arrive by car, by renting your car directly at the airport, or from the center. Generally, it should take you around 40 minutes to get there.
Salina is open every day, from Monday to Sunday, from 09:00 to 17:00.
The price of the admission ticket, from Monday al Friday, is 50LEI. Over the weekend the price is 50LEI. The reduced ticket always costs 30LEI. It does not include access to individual attractions, it is necessary to purchase a special ticket. Free for children under 3 years old.
Here are the prices of some of the main attractions:
Ferris Wheel, 15LEI per person.
20 minutes of Minigolf or Bowling, 20LEI.
20 minutes boat ride on the lake (max 30 people), 30LEI.
The Camera Crivac houses an ancient instrument from the 19th century, with which the salt rocks were raised. Difficult to find similar in Europe. It is in its original location.
An impressive glass lift offers a fantastic view of the Rudolf Mine, one of the most spectacular places in the Salina Turda. Here, you will also find the Park with adjoining Ferris Wheel, minigolf and even a dock for boats on the salt lake!
Just in order not to miss anything, there is also an underground lake, with stalactites.
