The small Mykonos Airport is operational, to all intents and purposes, exclusively during the summer season, in conjunction with the incredible influx of travelers. The only exception is Athens, with connections active all year round. It is an international airport, located a few kilometers away from the city center.
In the small airport terminal there is a duty free, a bar and an ATM. The airport is part, with 13 other regional airports, in the Fraport-Greece Master Plan which envisaged investments and renovations by 2021. In addition to safety, the interventions have brought about technological improvements such as the introduction of the wifi line, now present throughout the building. It is available FREE for all airport guests. There are also access ramps for the disabled.

The airport is located just 4 km from the center of Chora and is easily accessible.
The parking is located in the immediate vicinity of the terminal. The main problem you will encounter are the long waiting lines during the auction season. Especially if you have luggage in tow that often do not find space inside the vehicle. In this case you will have to arm yourself with a lot of patience and wait your turn. Tickets can be purchased directly on board the vehicle, with prices from €1.80 to €2.30.
The journey to the centre (Fabrica Square) takes just under 10 minutes. The bus from Fabrika Square to the airport departs every hour from 09:00 to 17:00. From the airport, departures every hour from 09:15 to 17:15. During high season, last rides are extended by two hours.
It is also possible to reach the New Port, again by bus. The journey takes about 20 minutes, with a direct route. The line is active only in high season with 9 daily departures from 09:10 (first ride) to approximately 17:50 (last ride) from the airport; from 10:00 to 18:30 from the Port.
Outside the Terminal, numerous taxis are available. A trip to the Chora generally costs around €15. However, it is advisable to inquire in advance about the cost of the trip and, if possible, to negotiate the price. In a group, usually, you save enough. Here, too, the bus rule applies: in high season you will have to wait a while before finding a free taxi.
If you intend to travel around the island by car, the advice is to rent it directly at the airport and, possibly, in advance, especially in summer, given the high demand. It is better to book with local agencies that often offer more advantageous rates and, above all, the possibility of booking without a deposit and without a credit card!
