The Victor Hugo Market represents a piece of Toulouse’s history.
It was born in 1892, where at the beginning of the century there was a wood, fodder and flea market, in what was once called Place du Marché-au-Bois.
In its metal halls, the indoor market housed around 280 stalls.
Since its creation, the Market has been linked to the historical vicissitudes of Toulouse, adapting and renewing itself according to the needs of its inhabitants.
The last renovation dates back to 2016.
Today, in its 4000 square meters, developed on two floors, you will find many vendors, always fresh products, and restaurants. There is also a large parking area. A special mention also to the organization and, above all, to the cleaning. An element not to be underestimated when it comes to food!
The market can be considered to all intents and purposes a real attraction of Toulouse, not to be missed if you are on holiday in these parts. An absolutely wonderful place, with a truly wide choice, and top-of-the-class quality.
An explosion of colors and scents.

The Victor Hugo Market is located in the square of the same name in Toulouse, about 400 meters north-east of the Place du Capitole.
It can be easily reached with a pleasant walk from the historic center. Saint-Sernin is less than 10 minutes away on foot.
Place Victor Hugo is well served by public transport. A few minutes away are the metro stops of Capitole (Line A) and Jean Jaures (Lines A and B).
Victor Hugo is also the stop of the L9 bus line.
The market is also nice to visit without buying anything. However, we are sure that once you enter, you will hardly go out empty-handed.
It is spread over two floors. On the ground floor there are numerous stalls offering the typical products of French gastronomy, with cheeses, crustaceans and birds to be the masters. Also excellent is the selection of meats and salami, bread, desserts.
The first floor houses some bars and restaurants, some of which are quite refined. The price varies but is quite high because quality has its price. And in quality, this market really abounds.
However, you will find proposals suitable for all tastes and budgets.
Attention only to the closing times: you can only have lunch.
The market is open from Tuesday to Sunday, with special exceptions, from 07:00 to 14:00. Closed on Mondays.
