Cafe Niederegger Lubeck. Info, how to arrive, opening hours

Cafe Niederegger

Lübeck, 15th century. The grain stocks had run out practically everywhere and, by now, the city was hungry everywhere. Food was in short supply; the only exception was almonds, of which all of Lübeck was abundant. It was at that point that a drastic decision was made; bakers were ordered to use almonds instead of bread…. thus the Marzipan was born!

Well this is just a legend! The product, originally from the East, only began its real production phase in the nineteenth century; until it became an art in Lübeck.

Lübeck, in fact. City whose historic center has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Anyone who is in this wonderful city cannot miss a visit to the legendary Café Niederegger. It was founded by George Niederegger: more than a pastry chef, a true marzipan artist. Located in Breite Strasse, near the beautiful Rathaus, it will immediately enchant you; in fact, in its windows, authentic miniature masterpieces are exhibited. All strictly made of marzipan.

So, don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity. And… enjoy your meal at Cafe Niederegger!
