CASTLE

About 15 minutes’ walk takes you to the small hill, where a Castle once stood.
Today, what remains are a few ruins. However, the view of the Monastery from above is beautiful.
MERCADO MUNICIPAL
At Avenida Professor Engenheiro Vieira Natividade, not far from the Monastery, you can stroll through this welcoming market which offers fruit, vegetables, cold cuts, cheeses, bread. And of course many fish proposals.
Many products are zero km.
You can find it open from Monday to Saturday until 13:00. Closed on Sundays.
JARDIM DO AMOR
The gardens of love revolve around the legend of the two lovers Pedro (son of the King of Portugal Alfonso IV) and Inès de Castro, who lived in the fourteenth century, and their eternal love.
The small and well-kept park is ideal for relaxing and taking couple photos. Two thrones with a big heart in the center, a heart-shaped wooden bench …
The gardens are open from 07:00 until 19:00
WINE MUSEUM
A really interesting little museum to discover the history of Portugal’s wine, with guide, exhibits and ancient artifacts.
You will be able to discover the whole phase of production up close.
At the end of the tour a small tasting awaits you.
Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

FAR FROM THE CENTER
Alcobaça includes 7 villages of the municipality including São Martinho do Porto, one of the best known seaside resorts in the area (with Nazaré)
São Martinho can be reached by bus or more easily by car. If you plan to arrive in the afternoon, you could opt to sleep in this area, certainly more lively than Alcobaça. Info from here.
