The Andalusian city boasts an excellent and reliable integrated rail and road system thanks to which the center, the suburbs and the neighboring municipalities are well connected.

The historic center can be easily explored on foot. The bike, on the other hand, is a solution that is gaining more and more support, especially from the Malaguenos.

MOVING BY BIKE

Ecological. Fun. Safe. Greet. With these premises, the bike can only be an excellent way to get around Malaga and discover the beauties of the city. Including the beaches. In recent times, the administration has made great strides, expanding the network of cycle paths. Today, many areas are closed to vehicles. Many areas of the coastal Paseo are suitable for “two wheels”. And, again by bike, you can move between one neighborhood and another, such as El Palo and Pedregalejo. There are, then, more challenging routes, particularly loved by cyclists. This is the case, for example, of the route around the “Sierra de Mijas“.

In the city you can choose between several rental shops, which offer bikes for all tastes and needs. Including bikes for the little ones. Prices start at around €7. Malagabiketours and bike2malaga are two excellent solutions.

Then, of course, there is the convenient bike sharing option, one of the cheapest. Dropbyke, for example, offers bikes from € 3 for an hour, and only € 10 for 24 hours. The procedure is similar to many others: just download the official app (iOS and Android) and follow the instructions displayed on the screen. After a simple extraction, you can unlock the bike and … start pedaling!

GETTING AROUND MALAGA BY BUS

The road service, like the trams, is extremely efficient, ideal for getting around Malaga. The service is guaranteed by EMT throughout the day thanks to 46 road lines, including 38 urban lines, the tourist bus 92, the A Express line to the airport, 3 CIRCULAR lines C1, C2 and C3 that cross the center, and 3 night buses (N1, N2 and N4) which operate exclusively at night.
The ordinary single-journey ticket costs €1.40, the special one for the airport costs €4.00. The advantageous TRANSBORDER TARJETA is also available, a booklet for 10 journeys at a cost of €8.40.

TRAM

The tram network is operated by Metro Malaga, a name that often confuses tourists. In Malaga, in fact, there is no metro, but a tram network which consists of 2 lines that extend for approximately 12 kilometers.

Line 1, colored red, connects the two terminus of El Perchel and Andalucia-Tech. Line 2, blue in color, from El Perchel to Palacio de Los Deportes. Inaugurated in July 2014, in an attempt to decongest the traffic of the Center, they are characterized by a total of 18 stations. The tram is ideal for getting around Malaga.

The service is active every day, from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, with the following times and frequencies:

• From Monday to Friday from 06:30 to 23:00 with runs every 6, 7 and 10 minutes depending on the time slot;
• Friday and the evenings before holidays, from 06:30 to 01:30;
• Saturday, from 07:00 to 01:30;
• Sundays and holidays from 07:00 to 23:00, with runs every 10′.
