Atarazanas Central Market in Malaga. Practical info, what to do and see

Atarazanas Central Market

Ordered. Clean. Well assorted. In a central position. On holiday in Malaga, the Atarazanas, Central Market represents a must.

Born in the nineteenth century, it is housed in a large building indoors, cool and sheltered from outside temperatures. Precisely for this reason, the visit is recommended especially in summer. Varied, and wide, display of fresh and genuine products, at fairly contained costs. Excellent fresh fruit smoothies, seafood tapas, vegetables, meat and fish.

You will find different stands with tables, which offer the opportunity to consume, at the moment, the various delicacies on display. Wandering among the stalls, you will often be able to taste some of the local products. A perfectly successful way of enhancing the local tradition and the typicality of the region.

The market is really beautiful, and above all, central. Moreover, the name itself leaves little room for misunderstanding. A place not to be missed.

Located in the center of Calle Atarazanas, the market is easily accessible on foot. The Alcazaba and the Picasso Museum, for example, are about a ten-minute walk away.
By tram, with metromalaga, you can get off at the El Perchel stop. In about 15 minutes walk, you arrive at your destination.

The Mercado Central is open every day, from Monday to Saturday, from 08: 00 to 15: 00.
Always closed on Sundays and public holidays.

A short distance from the market, it rises Alameda Principal, ancient avenue flanked by bicentennial trees; from here, the beginning of Calle Marqués de Larios, the main street and heart of the historic center and today an authentic commercial area, as well as a shopping street, with the city’s most renowned shops.
