A wonderful holiday between art and gastronomy.
This is what awaits you in the beautiful Segovia, a splendid city of Castile and Leon, just under 100 km from Madrid.
Many Madrilenians often stretch here to breathe the tranquil atmosphere and savor the “cochinillo Asado”, a typical Segovian dish.
Here, on the slopes of the Sierra de Guadarrama, stands the city. A place to admire palaces and beautiful architecture, Romanesque churches, the historic center and the aqueduct. Incredible places, declared World Heritage by UNESCO.
A place to savor the excellent local cuisine, with typical dishes prepared according to ancient recipes
HOW TO GET TO SEGOVIA
The Spanish city is located about 90 km north-east of Madrid. The capital, therefore, represents the ideal base to reach from medium to long range distances.
By plane, you land at Barajas International Airport, a reference point for connections with Spain. It is the largest airport in the world for terminal space, with a million square meters!
Every day, there are numerous connections to the main destinations in Europe and Latin America.
Land in Barajas, you can reach Segovia by renting a car at the airport. Anyone wishing to reach the city by train, or bus, must first reach the center of Madrid. More info from here.
ARRIVE BY TRAIN
The city is served by two major railway stations.
The Estacion AVE de Guiomar, is the reference point for high-speed connections.
You can arrive, for example, from the capital, in about 30 minutes, with prices starting from € 13.90 per adult and € 11.10 reduced (children up to 11 years)
The AVE station is located about 5 km from the center, reachable by public transport Line 12. The bus ticket (BILLETTE AVE), in this case, costs 2€.
High Speed trains connect Alicante, Madrid-Chamartin, Salamanca, Valladolid.
The central station, on the other hand, is served only by regional trains. In this case, from Madrid, it takes almost 2 hours, for a total of 25 stops. In this case, however, the rates are very affordable: €8.55 per adult and €6.85 for children.
Better to opt for Guiomar.
BUS
Having Madrid as a starting point, the bus allows you to reach Segovia at very cheap prices: around €4 per person.
Departure from the Moncloa station, in the capital, and arrival at the central bus station, not far from the historic center.
CAR
Segovia is not a city particularly suited to being turned into a car. Quite the contrary. For this reason, those arriving by car should park on the outskirts or at the hotel where they stay, and then continue by public transport or taxi.
From Madrid, to the south, you arrive in just over an hour, crossing A6 and AP61. Almost identical distance from Valladolid, north of the city.
From Salamanca, you travel just under 200km on the A50 motorway, for a journey of about 2 hours.
Valencia, to the south-east, is 450 km away, all passable on A3 in about 4 and a half hours.
The A4, on the other hand, connects the Spanish city to the Portuguese port, in about 5 hours by car.
