Chocolate, in Obidos, is a serious business. In importance, it is second only to Ginjinha, of which it is also a delicious accompaniment.
And certainly could not miss a great review that could enhance its goodness and, at the same time, its beauty. Established in 2002, the Obidos Chocolate Festival soon gained a lot of acclaim across the country. So much so that it has been visited by over 200,000 enthusiasts.
Flavor, color and knowledge. An experience dedicated to lovers of chocolate and its pleasures, which awakens the senses.
The event takes place every year, just before the start of spring, for 3 weekends.
It is undoubtedly an excellent excuse to set out to discover this charming village in Extremadura.

PRACTICAL INFO
PLACE OF THE EVENT
The Obidos Chocolate Festival takes place, as usual, in the area adjacent to the Castle, one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
It is preferable to reach the town by bus, in order to easily move around the border on foot.
From Porta da Vila, the historic access point, continue along Rua Direita. After Praça de Santa Maria you arrive at your destination.
WHAT TO DO AND SEE
Chocolate is the absolute protagonist. You can enjoy it thanks to the proposals of about 40 local producers and workshops and the surrounding areas.
However, there is no shortage of activities and entertainment for the whole family. Starting with the splendid chocolate sculptures: objects that combine art and taste. Workshops to learn the preparation of chocolate.
The art and excellence of chocolate will be celebrated at AEG Stage, where there will be numerous competitions and awards: from the best chocolate wedding cake, to the best homemade cake. And, again, the best product of the year, the best chocolate-based cocktail… and much more.
An exclusive area is dedicated to children and their creativity. At Dino Parc, specially set up for the festival, they will be able to admire 15 life-size dinosaurs!
OBIDOS CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL 2025 TIMETABLES AND TICKETS
The festival takes place from March 21st to April 6th, from Friday to Sunday, from 11:00 to 21:00.
The standard ticket, from 12 years old and up, costs €10. Reduced from 3 to 11 years old, €8. A special family ticket is also available starting from €32 for 2 adults and 2 children.
Tickets can be purchased at the two ticket offices “Porta da Vila” and “Santiago” located between the Castle and the Church of São Tiago. The ticket offices are open during the days of the event from 10:00 to 20:30.
