Köln-Wahn, better known as Cologne Bonn, is an international airport, located near the small German municipalities of Wahnheide and Grengel, in North Rhine. It is one of the most important airports in all of Germany, in terms of passenger volume and importance. In 2015 alone, over 10 million passengers passed through here.

Cologne Bonn Airport is located 15 kilometers southeast of Cologne, and 16 kilometers from Bonn. It is the hub of Eurowings, Germanwings, FedEx and UPS, as well as one of the sites for the emergency landing of the Space Shuttle, in the event of an interruption of a mission. The airport has two rather close terminals, a train station and numerous bars, restaurants, shopping and duty-free areas. Wi-Fi is free, and available almost everywhere.

AIRPORT – COLOGNE CONNECTIONS

The connections from the airport to Cologne are really fast and numerous. After all, the distance is about 15 km. Those wishing to reach the city by train can choose between ICE, regional lines and the recommended S-Bahn.

Generally, the travel time, whichever option you choose, is around 15 minutes, which is why it is the price that makes the difference.

With the suburban S-Bahn railway, in about 15 minutes you reach Koln HBF, that is, the central station. Just buy a ticket for zone 1b, at a cost of €2.85 per adult and 1.52€ for children aged from 6 to 12. You can purchase travel tickets, directly from your smartphone, through the official KVB APP. Alternatively, you can buy tickets from the many vending machines.

Anyone allergic to rail transport can use the 161 bus to Porz Markt. The bus passes through both airport terminals, at T1/A Untergeschoss, and T2/D, Busbahnhof.
