Surrounded by walls and ramparts, the old town of Beaune still has beautiful Renaissance palaces and charming inner courtyards. The 13th century Church of Notre-Dame and the sumptuous Hôtel-Dieu are just some of the landmarks of this city.
For a simple “hit and run” stop, or a stay of one or more nights, Beaune will certainly be able to offer you wonderful memories.
HOW TO GET TO BEAUNE
Not having its own airport, Lyon can be an excellent starting point for arriving in the French city. Especially coming from other European destinations.
AIRPLANE
Lyon Saint-Exupery international airport is well connected, with direct flights, to the main European and non-European destinations. The airport is also well connected by public transport. By tram, you can reach the center in about 30 minutes. All information on the airport, and connections, can be found through this link.
From the Lyon-Part-Dieu railway station, the Burgundian city can be reached by train in around 2 hours.
Obviously, the most convenient alternative could be to rent a car directly at the airport.
TRAIN
It is possible to arrive in Beaune, by train, exclusively from France. The main railway Station, coming from the city walls, is at the end of Avenue du 8 Septembre 1944, not far from the center.
It is not a particularly busy station. The connections are managed by the French SNCF, in particular with Chalon-sur-Saône, Dijon, Lyon, Nancy and Paris. There are also rapid TGV connections with Toulouse and Nancy. The train takes just over 5 hours to travel over the 600 kilometers that separate the city from Toulouse.
CAR
Burgundy, a fascinating and evocative land, is a wedding invitation for lovers of on the road travel. If Beaune should be one of the many stages to discover the charm of this land, then the car could be for you.
From Paris, around 312 are the kilometers to be covered, most of which on the motorway section. Almost double, however, is the distance from Nice: 630 approximately kilometers. From the Italian Genoa you have to travel 600 kilometers to arrive, passing through Geneva.
