MUSEUMS IN LYON NOT TO BE MISSED
MUSÉE DES BEAUX-ARTS

The Museum of Fine Arts is located in Presque-Ile, near the beautiful Place des Terraux.
It is housed in an ancient Benedictine convent from the 17th century.
Its 70 rooms house art collections spanning around 5,000 years, from Ancient Egypt to modern art. You can admire sculptures, works of art, coins, relics all perfectly organized and cataloged chronologically. It houses works, pictures and paintings by great artists: Rembrandt, Brueghel, Rubens, Poussin, Fragonard, Ingres, Delacroix, Courbet, Rodin, Gauguin, Monet, Bourdelle, Matisse, Picasso.
The museum is open Wednesday to Monday from 10:00 to 18:00. On Friday the opening hours are at 10:30 pm. Closed on Tuesdays and public holidays. The standard ticket, from 26 years upwards, costs 8€. Reduced from 18 to 25 years old, 4€. Free for children under the age of 18.
MUSÉE LUMIÈRE
Other than Hollywood. Lyon is the true homeland of world cinema. In fact, the brilliant Lumière brothers lived in Lyon. Rather wealthy, it was also thanks to their economic wealth that they managed to carry out demanding projects.
In what was once their residence, a splendid 19th century villa, today a museum dedicated to the “seventh art” has been set up.
In the Lumiere Museum and the Institute located right next door, you can relive the genius of this family and their discoveries, from 360-degree photos to the cinema.
A fantastic and interesting path not to be missed for cinema lovers.
The standard ticket costs 9€. Children up to 18 years pay the reduced rate of 7.50€. Free for children up to 6 years.

MUSÉE DES CONFLUENCES
The Confluences Museum, inaugurated only in 2014, has a very recent history.
It is located at Quai Perrache 86, near the T1 line stop of the same name.
The name is not chosen by chance: it was built where the Rhône and Saone, the two rivers of Lyon, converge. The term Confluence, however, also encompasses the very essence of this museum, which is a combination of different themes and disciplines. The history of humanity and the origins of the universe are addressed through anthropological exhibitions.
The standard ticket costs 12€. Reduced, 7€.
The Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 18:30. Closed on Mondays and public holidays.
OTHER MUSEUMS IN LYON
Unless you have a lot of time at your disposal, you will hardly be able to visit other museum complexes other than those listed above.
For those interested, there are niche proposals suitable for more specific visits.
This is the case, for example, of the Museum of Press and Communication.
The history of printing, books, communication and even advertising, shown in a journey from the Middle Ages to the present day.
It is located on Rue de la Poulallerie, near the Cordelier stop, on line A of the metro.
It is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10:30 to 18:00. The standard ticket costs 6€. Reduced (18-25 years old) 4€. It’s FREE for under 18.
The Musée d’Art Contemporain de Lyon is housed in a beautiful building designed by Renzo Piano, near the beautiful park of the Tête d’Or.
The exhibitions of contemporary artists are set up along the 3 floors of the building.
Open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 6pm. The standard ticket costs €8 (€6 reduced). Free for children under the age of 18.
