Many of its attractions, and its beauties, really offer interesting ideas for the little ones.
We are still in the hometown of Antoine de Saint-Éxupery, the father of the “Little Prince”.
Many squares offer entertainment areas. Some museums are a pleasant discovery and an invitation to curiosity and exploration. As, moreover, can be the numerous traboules scattered around the city.

PLACE BELLECOUR

Place Bellecour Lyon

We are sure that you will pass more than once in what is one of the largest squares in all of France, a true symbol of the city.
In this case, children in Lyon can have fun on the Ferris wheel with which they reach more than 50 meters in height. In winter, fun is guaranteed for adults and children on the ice rink.
On one side of the immense square there are some games, slides and paths for the little ones.
A little further, quite hidden, is the statue of Saint-Exupery and the “Little Prince”.

MUSEUMS FOR THE CHILDREN

The Lumière Museum, dedicated to the inventions of the brilliant brothers of Lyon, can be a good solution to bring children closer to the world of cinema. More info from here.

In the heart of Lyon, not far from the Cathedral, the Musée Cinéma e Miniature is probably even more interesting for children in Lyon. A museum that offers two unique collections: the magic of effects
specials in cinema and the art of miniature.
The museum houses a rich collection of original cinematographic objects: miniatures, masks, prostheses, animatronics, sets, costumes. Many secrets about tricks and special effects used in the cinema will be revealed.
Open every day, Monday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 18:30.
The standard ticket costs 16.90€. The reduced ticket costs 14.90€. Free for children up to 4 years old. With the family pack, at a cost of €49.30, 2 adults and 2 children can enter.

Maison de Guignol is a splendid permanent theater in the historic center, consisting of 2 halls for performances for the whole family. Particularly suitable from 5 to 12 years. Guaranteed fun for the whole family since 1965.

At the MAM (Musée des Arts de la Marionnette), not far from the center, the little ones will be able to appreciate the art of puppets through activities, shows and exhibitions.

It is located at the beginning of the Place de Petit Collège, near the Lyon-Saint Paul train station.
Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10:30 am to 6:00 pm.

Parc de la Tete d'Or Lyon

PARC DE LA TETE D’OR

Without a doubt the place not to be missed on a holiday with children in Lyon.
With its 117 hectares it is one of the largest urban parks in all of France. It is located in the center of Lyon, opposite the Croix-Rousse on the opposite bank of the Rhone.
It houses a boating lake, zoo (FREE), botanical garden, rose garden, children’s playgrounds, mini golf, and even a miniature railway.
Pure entertainment. We are sure that the complete visit of this wonderful park will keep you busy all day.
Fun immersed in nature: a truly unique park, waiting to be discovered.
The park is open from October to April, from 06:30 to 20:30.
From mid-April to mid-October, from 06:30 to 22:30.

GAMES FOR CHILDREN IN LYON

Inside the Parc De la Tete d’Or, the little ones will be spoiled for choice. There are floating boats. A go-kart track. A mini-golf course.
Attractions generally operate on Wednesdays, weekends and public holidays.
The price for a ride on the Carousel costs 2.80€.

In the park, children from 2 to 12 years old, can have fun on the go-kart track aboard the numerous vehicles. Among them, the F40 and F1 cars. The price for one ride is €2.30.

It is possible to rent a 4-seater “Balad d’Or” bike wheelchair (2 adults and maximum 3 children) at a cost of €18 for the first 30′.

TRAINS

Pulled by the “Dauphinoise”, a 1948 locomotive, the Little Train will take you to discover the wonderful park, along a tree-lined path. Ideal for a moment of break and relaxation. The ticket costs 3€ per person.

Lézard du Parc” is another tourist train with tires that offers an almost complete tour of the Tête d’Or Park, also crossing the rose gardens. The tour lasts about 20 minutes. The ticket costs €5 per person.

EMBARCADERO

As a family, or for a romantic break with your partner. On board electric boats and pedal boats you can navigate the waters of the Park. Undoubtedly a fascinating and evocative way.
The rental costs €18 for 30′ for normal boats, and €35 for electric boats.

ZOO

Lyon Zoo

Over 150 of history for this interesting zoological garden, inaugurated in 1858.
The zoo extends for just under 10 hectares within the immense park, hosting about 300 animals from different continents.
To underline the fact that the entrance is FREE!
It is open Wednesday to Monday from 09:30 to 17:00. In summer, it is open until 6.30pm. Closed on Tuesdays.

ROSE GARDENS AND BOTANICAL GARDEN

The splendid rose gardens extend over 5 hectares within the park, showing 450 different varieties of roses!

The Botanical Garden is another unmissable stop in the Park, for adults and children. A garden inaugurated in 1857 which houses numerous greenhouses with over 15,000 plant species. Beautiful and well cared for, with lots of plants and flowers. Admission is FREE.
Open Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 18:00. Sunday, from 09:00 to 19:00.
