Vacation in Etretat. Best places and points of interest. What to see

Vacation in Etretat

The marvelous cliffs, overlooking the sea, are undoubtedly the most fascinating and evocative spectacle during a vacation in Etretat. It is precisely in this place that you can admire the most beautiful cliffs of the entire Alabaster Coast, a beautiful stretch that extends for about 140 km.
A truly magical place that inspired, not surprisingly, artists, writers and painters.
Only one weekend is enough to fall in love with these places.

VACATION IN ETRETAT: THE CENTER

The center of Etretat, touristic and really picturesque, can be visited in half a day. This ancient fishing village, today is a rather lively center, particularly lively during the high season. Among clubs, bars, restaurants, you will be spoiled for choice.
The Vieux Marchée rises in the center. It was built in 1926, in wood, to house the shops of sellers and artisans. Today, you will find bars, a few restaurants and, above all, a myriad of souvenir shops. The building, however, retains the charm of the past, and certainly deserves a visit.

Etretat-Normandie

Weather permitting, a holiday in Etretat can not be separated from a walk on the beautiful promenade. Don’t forget your swimsuit. There Plage d’Etretat it is located in a truly incredible position, protected by the two majestic cliffs. A very long stretch of pebbles, really beautiful. The water is obviously quite cold.
An ideal place to relax in the sun.

The Falais d’Aval, located at the southern end of the beach. It is one of the places not to be missed during a holiday in Etretat. From here, you can enjoy a superb view of the town and the coast. Spectacular plays of light, contrasts and colors. An incredibly charming and romantic place.
With spectacular views, stands the Chapel Notre-Dame de la Garde, dedicated to the Holy Virgin. Born in the 1856, it was rebuilt in the 1950, after which, 8 years before, it was completely destroyed.
“Oiseau Blanc”, not far from the Chapel, is a monument dedicated to the two French pilots Nussenger and Coli, who died during a mission to cross the Atlantic.

Just behind the Chapelle de Notre-Dame, the Gardens are a must visit during your vacation in Etretat. A truly magical place, a source of inspiration for Monet.

FALAISE D’ETRETAT

In the exact opposite direction, the Manneport, Aiguille and Crag d’Amont.
The first means, literally, Magna Port. The name gives a good idea of what you can admire: a colossal natural arch, with an opening of over 90 meters. Really incredible, and spectacular.
The Aiguille is a sort of natural obelisk, about 70 meters high, in a prodigious balance.
The Falaise d’Amont, on the other hand, closes the small inlet.

The city offers a large number of sports and leisure activities. Not to mention the incredible Golf Course, which stands on a spectacular promontory, giving incredible glimpses between one hole and another.
