The historic center of Bolzano is quite small and concentrated. In addition, much of this is a pedestrian zone, which is why you move almost exclusively on foot.
Piazza Walther and the Duomo, the arcades, the main museums are all within easy walking distance.
Public transport is efficient, modern and ecological. SASA is the transport company that manages bus lines in Bolzano, Merano and Laives, as well as 30 suburban lines.
The fleet also includes 5 fully electric vehicles and a dozen hybrid buses. Getting around Bolzano by bus is therefore also an ecological choice.
22 daytime lines operate from 06:00 in the morning until around 20:00. Most of the routes pass through the central railway station.
The 2 night lines N1 and N35, on the other hand, run from 8pm to midnight.
As there are no active lines, it will not be possible getting around Bolzano by bus during the night time between 00:00 and 06:00.
Alternative I know rather expensive bus for getting around Bolzano. Taxis are easily identified by the logo and the presence of the taximeter.
They are ideal for moving around at night, in the absence of an active public service.
In front of the train station you will find the taxi rank active 24 hours a day.
To travel on the buses of Bolzano you can choose between single tickets, day tickets, passes and season tickets. Tickets can be purchased from the automatic machines of the main stations and at the points of sale that display the brand.
The ticket for a single journey costs €1.50 and is valid for a 60 ‘journey from validation.
The day ticket is ideal for those who want to make several trips in one day. In fact, it costs €4 per person and allows you to make unlimited trips for the whole day throughout the urban area.
With a surcharge of €3 you can also include the transport of your bicycle.
