Suvarnabhumi is the most important airport in Bangkok and all of Southeast Asia.
It is located on the eastern outskirts of the capital and was officially inaugurated in 2006. From this date it has joined the Don Muang airport, the second in the capital, which currently serves mainly domestic flights.
Hub of Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways, it houses the tallest control tower in the world: 132 meters! In addition, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is home to the fourth largest terminal in the world after Hong Kong, Beijing and Dubai airports.
In its immense Terminal there are all essential services, bars, restaurants, shopping and duty-free areas. In addition to local and Asian cuisine, there is a great representation of international cuisine. There is no shortage of classic fast food such as Burger King and McDonald’s and brands such as Starbucks and Subway.
And, again, statues, attractions and even beautiful gardens to be admired
There is no shortage of wifi line and charging points for smartphones and computers.
In the Departures area there is the FAST TRACK lane (for a fee) for quick access.
Getting around inside the terminal is not particularly easy, especially for European visitors. Also given the size of the airport, it is preferable to arrive at least 3 hours before your flight.

CONNECTIONS BANGKOK SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT – CENTER
TAXI
As soon as you leave the airport you will find the taxi rank.
A taxi ride costs around 450 baht (including the 70 airport surcharge).
For locals, these are extremely expensive prices – a trip costs more than 10 times the cost of a train trip. It is not the same for those on vacation, considering that to date 450 baht is equivalent to about €12.
AIRPORT RAIL LINK

Officially inaugurated in 2010, the ARL (Airport Rail Link) elevated railway connects the international airport every day with the center of Bangkok and the stations of Petchaburi (Metro interchange) and Phaya Thai (Green Line Bangkok Skytrain).
If you do not want to use the taxi, this is the preferred public transport, fast, comfortable and particularly reliable.
The line operates every day, from Monday to Sunday, from 06:00 to midnight, with the following times:
- Monday, Friday, from 06: 00-09: 00 and 16: 00-20: 00, departures every 10 minutes.
- Monday, Friday, from 09: 15-15: 45 and 20: 15-00: 00, departures every 15 minutes.
- Saturday and Sunday, all day, departures every 15 minutes.
The ticket price varies according to the distance. A trip from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Makkasan costs 35 baht. To reach Phay Thai, from the airport, the ticket costs 45 baht.
BUS
Less fast and efficient than the Rail Link, buses are to be taken into consideration if you want to reach the nerve centers of the city without having to make changes. Or to reach the other provinces.
Some lines are faster than others (expressways) because they make fewer stops.
On all vehicles the rate of 35 baht per person applies.
Among the various lines, there is the 389 bus which allows you to reach Pattaya. Line 554, on the other hand, connects the two airports of the capital. Line 551 arrives at the Victory Monument.
