If you tried to ask the Venetians what could be the best way to get around Venice, the answer would not be long in coming: with your own legs!
Venice, moreover, is a truly suggestive city that must be admired from every corner and from every glimpse, through its marvelous bridges.
The historic center can be explored on foot in about an hour. In many areas there is no lack of special signs even if, nowadays, the most common apps will almost certainly prevent you from losing your orientation!
Public transport in Venice is managed by ACTV (Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano) through a dense network of connections on buses, trams and water buses.
Moving around Venice by public transport is convenient and efficient but particularly expensive. Every year over 200,000,000 passengers use Venetian public transport and, in fact, ACTV is one of the transport companies that records the most revenues of all!
Over 20 daytime lines and 3 night lines make up the offer of water buses to move around Venice.
The lines allow you to reach the main destinations of the lagoon, including Murano and the picturesque Burano.
Lines 1 and 2 consist mainly of Vaporetti and are the lines of the “City Center“. They cross the Grand Canal and the Giudecca Canal.
Lines 3 to 6 (Giracittà) circumnavigate the perimeter of Venice, allowing you to reach the most strategic points such as Lido, Piazzale Roma, San Marco, up to Murano.
The 10 Lagunari lines, on the other hand, connect Venice with the rest of the Lagoon: Burano, Murano, Torcella and others.
The lines are all active from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, from morning until late evening.
From midnight until 05 am, it is possible to use the night service.
The night bus lines and the 3 navigation lines N, N Laguna Nord and N Murano are active.
The night lines allow you to reach the main points of interest in Venice.
The N1 and N2 buses run at night in the urban area of Venice
In addition to the navigation lines, Venice has numerous urban bus lines that move along the mainland.
In Venice Lido there are 5 urban bus lines, active from early morning to late evening. Many choose the Lido to stay, thanks to the cheaper prices than in the center.
