Getting around Dijon

The center of Dijon can be easily reached on foot. The bike, in these parts, is a very popular means of transport, like public transport, fast and efficient.

GETTING AROUND DIJON BY BIKE

The two-wheeler is a rather comfortable and ecological vehicle. DiviaVélo offers over 800 short, medium and long-term rental bicycles at very competitive prices. For rentals of up to 7 days, you will need to travel to DiviaVéloPark, at Dijon Gare, and register your contract. DiviaVélodi, complementary, offers 400 bicycles in the heart of the city. You can use the bike at your leisure, taking it, and making it, in one of the 40 parking points in the city. Rates start at €3.

Divia is the company that manages the city’s public transport, through an extremely efficient network of buses and trams. Thanks to public transport, getting around Dijon is really simple and intuitive.

T1 Dijon Gare – Quetigny Center, and T2 Chenôve Center – Dijon Valmy, are the two excellent tram lines that operate every day from 05:30 to one in the morning; they have a frequency of only 5 minutes during peak times. Five bus lines, identified from L3 to L7, running at the same times (except Sunday, from 07:00 to one o’clock), connect the city center. In addition, another 13 complementary lines are in operation, arriving in the peripheral areas.

PLEINELUNE, on the other hand, is the new night bus service, active during Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 01:00 to 05:00. Thanks to the Pleinelune line, it is possible getting around Dijon between Université and Republique.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT TICKETS

The Divia Card is a special name card that allows you to top up the credit for each type of ticket within the city: from the single journey to the season ticket. It costs €5 and can be purchased at the Central Station, at information points or at automatic ticket machines.

The ticket types are:

  • PASS 1h, at a cost of €1.40 you can use unlimited trams and buses within 60 minutes of validation.
  • The 10 + 1 VOYAGES Carnet PASS, on the other hand, offers 11 tickets of 1h, at a cost of €14.00. Also available in the reduced version, at a cost of €9.35.
  • 24h PASS at a cost of €4.20, for one person, €6.30 for two people, €8.40 for 3 people, €9.45 for 4 people. PASS 48h sold at €7.35 and PASS 72h at a cost of €9.45; 7 DAY PASS, at a cost of €13.00.
  • PASS SOIRÉE, at a cost of €2.10, you can travel on all trams and buses indefinitely from 19:00 to 06:00 in the morning.

There are also types of 24 h passes for two or more people that are quite convenient. For all information on how to get around Dijon, refer to the official DIVIA website. We underline that, if you do not want to purchase the RECHARGEABLE CARD, you can travel on buses and trams at a cost of €2.00. The ticket must be purchased exclusively in contactless mode inside the vehicle using your credit card or smartphone.
