BUS
CTT, Compagnia Toscana Trasporti, manages the urban public service in Viareggio and Lucca and numerous suburban lines.
The urban service consists of 4 bus lines, ideal for getting around Viareggio and the outlying areas. Here is the detail:
- Bus 21: Santa Maria Goretti-Railway Station-City Center-Piazza d’Azeglio-Virgilio-Filzi
- Bus 25: Tobino-Varignano-Piazza d’Azeglio-Railway Station-Maroncelli-Hospital
- Bus 27: Brentino-Terminetto-Migliarina-Marco Polo-Piazza Mazzini-Piazza d’Azeglio
- Bus 31: Torre del Lago-Lecci-Garibaldi-Piazza d’Azeglio-Railway station.
The lines generally operate every day, from 06:40 to 20:10 on weekdays; on public holidays, they only work in the afternoon after 2pm.
A further line (33, Cemetery Line) is active only in the morning, on holidays.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT TICKETS
To use urban public transport, it is necessary to purchase the appropriate tickets for the URBANA MAGGIORE rate of AT (Autolinee Toscane) from authorized resellers. In this way it will be possible to move around Viareggio with the 5 urban lines. The ticket for a single ride costs €1.20, and allows you to make a journey on the bus, for a duration of 70 minutes from the first validation.
You can also buy it on board, at a particularly high cost: 2.50€.
The 10-trip booklet, costs €11.00. You can make 10 single-ride trips of 70 minutes. Recommended only for those who do not use the vehicles occasionally.
The Viareggio SMS ticket, allows you to travel on public transport by sending a simple SMS from your smartphone. It is available for fine customers 4 main Italian telephone operators. Just send an SMS with the word Viareggio to 4850307, and the cost of the ticket will be deducted from the telephone credit.
The ticket is valid for 90 ‘from validation and costs €1.50 per person.
Tickets can also be purchased via smartphone through the official TABNET app (available for iOS, Android and Huawei).
