The Budapest musical fountain, known by the local name of Margitszigeti szökőkút, is one of the places of greatest appeal of the splendid Margaret Island, in the city of Budapest. Beautiful and evocative, has been recognized, with the neighbor Tower tank, UNESCO site.
The island is truly wonderful: an incredible green lung within the city, where you can spend a couple of hours, and even more, in relaxation and absolute peace. Inside the island, the wonderful Musical Fountain, makes it almost like a mistress, with its jets of water that move to the rhythm of classical music.
There are shows visible from morning to night; obviously, the most suggestive ones are after sunset, when the fountain is illuminated by colors that change constantly. The highlight is represented by the last 21:00 show, in which the complete musical billboard is reproduced.
Obviously, who had been in Barcelona, will not have much difficulty in making similarities with the Magic Fountain of Montjuic; well, the two fountains are very similar, at least from the point of view of the show.
PRACTICAL INFO
HOW TO GET TO BUDAPEST MUSICAL FOUNTAIN
The fountain is located on the south side of the island Margaret Bridge, near the Athletic Center Margitszigeti Atlétikai Centrum Szigetklub.
It is accessible by numerous means: the bus 26 First of all, one of the few vehicles that can penetrate the island, which we remember, is almost entirely pedestrian.
I tram N. 2 e 4, they cross and stop a Margitsziget / Margit híd: cross the small bridge, and after a few minutes walk you reach the destination.
We also point out that the fountain is located near the Ferry Terminal, where several boats dock.
TIMETABLE AND PROGRAM
From 26/05/2018, the program has been completely revised in the schedules and, above all, in the lineup of the songs in the program. The show starts from 11:00 with a musical repertoire dedicated to children; replicated a second time, during the day, at 16:00.
From 12:00, every hour, there will be reduced shows up to 20:00. During these shows, only 4 tracks will be played. At 21:00, instead, there will be the complete final show, with a rich show and lots of music.
The fountain usually operates from May to October. In 2025, the fountain is scheduled to be activated starting from Thursday, May 1st.
