To travel to the United States for business, leisure or pleasure, it is mandatory to join the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). This is the Visa-Free Travel Program that allows entry into the United States, to those who request it.
Obviously, subject to certain requirements. Among these, the obtaining of the ESTA, the electronic system for travel authorization.
International travelers wishing to visit the United States will have to sign up for the Visa Waiver Program, following a special procedure that includes, among other things, the payment of a tax.
Of particular importance, of course, has been given in the field of security. In December, 2015, in fact, the United States Congress decided to make some changes to its Visa Waiver Program. Especially for those who have visited Iraq, Iran, Syria or Sudan since 01 March 2011. Or those in possession of dual citizenship in one of the countries listed above.
REQUIREMENTS VISA WAIVER PROGRAM
Those who meet the following requirements may be admitted to the Visa-Free Travel Program (VWP):
- You intend to travel for tourism, or for business, for a period not exceeding 90 days.
- Being a citizen of one of the following countries: Andorra. Australia. Austria. Belgium. Brunei. Chile. Czech Republic. Denmark. Estonia. Finland. France. Germany. Greece. Hungary. Iceland. Ireland. Italy. Japan.Latvia. Liechtenstein. Lithuania. Luxembourg. Monaco (Principality). Netherlands. New Zeland. Norway. Portugal. Republic of Malta. San Marino. Singapore. Slovakia. Slovenia. South Korea. Spain. Sweden. Switzerland. Taiwan. United Kingdom.
- Being in possession of a valid passport, equipped with an electronic chip, also e-passport. The document, bearing the appropriate symbol on the cover, contains biometric information of the owner, to authenticate the identity.
- Have an authorization through ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization).
- Be in possession of a return ticket or, alternatively, a transit ticket.
