Budapest Ferihegy, also known under the name of Ferenc Liszt, in honor of the eponymous magician musician, is the international airport of Budapest, as well as the main airport of Hungary. It is about 16 km from the city center and consists of two Terminals.
The airport is well connected to major European destinations and also with the Middle East, Asia and North America. Until 2012, it was the airline’s hub Malév, then failed that same year. Currently it is the basis of the Wizz Air, the Hungarian Low-Cost company, one of the most used to fly in Eastern Europe.
Inside, all essential services are guaranteed: shopping areas, duty-free, a shop and a post office. You can change into the local currency directly at the ATMs at the airport.

Directly at Budapest Ferihegy Airport, you can use the convenient Bus 100E (Airport Express) that connects Deák Ferenc tér, in the center. The service operates every day, including Sundays and holidays, 24 hours a day! It is undoubtedly the fastest way to get to the center of the capital.
Buses depart every 6 and 10 minutes during the day, every 10 and 15 minutes in the evening and every 30/40 minutes during the night. The ticket costs 2200HUF per person and can be purchased at points of sale, automatic machines, on the official BKK app and directly on board the vehicle as a credit card. There are no reductions for children.
Bus 200E connects Terminal 2 of Budapest Airport with the Metro station, Line 3 of Kőbánya-Kispest. From here, travellers can take the Metro, direction Újpest Központ to reach the city centre. On the way, the Deák Ferenc stop is an interchange with its other metro lines.
The bus runs daily from 04:00 to 23:00 (from 23:00 to 1:00 in the morning, the same bus makes an exclusive connection from the airport to South Pest; from here, the night bus 950 connects to the centre).
To use the 200E bus, simple Budapest bus tickets are used, including multi-day cards and passes. The Airport Express ticket is not valid.
A less practical solution than the bus. Ferihegy is the closest train station to Budapest Airport but you can reach it with BUS 200E.
To travel by train and reach destinations further away from the capital you still need to reach the center of Budapest.
