The historic center is quite small and concentrated, so you can easily move around on foot.
Alternatively, you can use taxis and public transport for getting around Craiova and reach the main points of interest, including the train station (about 2km from the center) and the airport (about 7km)

RAT is the company that manages public transport in the city. To date, 18 bus lines and 3 tram lines (Rețeaua de tramvaie) are in operation.
Generally, public transport operates from 05:30 to 21:30. There are no night lines to move around Craiova.
The fare system on buses and trams is identical. The fare is unique and does not depend on the distance.
The ticket for a single journey costs 2.50 RON (about 0.5€) per person. It can be purchased from merchants and machines in the main stations. If purchased from the bus driver, the ticket costs 3 RON.
Subscriptions and passes are available from one week on. The pass for unlimited travel for 7 consecutive days (Abonament unic pe toate liniile – valabil 7 zile) costs 28 RON per person.
Romanian taxi drivers are reputed to be quite undisciplined: Craiova is no exception.
It is always preferable to check the price applied in advance, making sure to always choose official taxis with a taximeter and logo in sight.
Generally, taxis charge a fare of 2.30lei per kilometer, and a starting price of a couple of lei.
